If anything in the end Dr. King was fake, he wasn't real. He left Django hanging and Django could of very well died. As I've thought of that scene more and more, I loved it cause QT showed that at the end of the day even sadly the Good Whites will look out for themselves. It was commentary on White Liberalism. The movie did drop some racial commentary if you read between the lines so I do commend QT on that but he burried that commentary in the racial brutality and the cowboy western aspects.

But again after reading the script and dissecting the story, QT did drop some racial commentary that I thought was good. My biggest beef is like NYC Rebel said, he used the White Savoir plot device. I think he did it purposely to sell the movie to White Audiences cause White Audiences probably wouldn't of watched a straight up Slave Revolt without the White Savoir aspect. See folks, I didn't hate the movie 100%, I did give it a C+ but I did have problems with it.

Ok....now you're still saying we're making claims!!

I saw the movie dog. You WANT to believe I didn't.

:heh:

So out of all the stupid, angry, ignorant white people in the movie, (including the "white savior") you pick out the black character who never lost his cool, and displayed intelligence throughout the movie, and say he was wild and needed to be tamed.:mindblown:

Displayed intelligence throughout the whole movie?

The only person of intelligence in that film was Dr. King's character. Django was living off of anger and Dr. King giving him access to a damn horse, clothes, weapons and a means of unleashing his anger on white folk through the bounty system.

Stop acting like QT films have room to have several deep characters.

Django didn't seem wild at all at any point in the movie. What were ya'll watching? I think they emphasized his control the many times he had his hand on his gun and just gingerly put that shyt back. He never once lost his cool.

So I ask...where was this wild slave ****** that needed to be tamed?

So should a recently released slave be happy go lucky as he's searching for his wife who's probably being rapped and beat. I guess he shoulda been walking around shaking hands, asking slavers nicely to return his wife:pachaha:

:comeon: If it wasn't for django keeping his cool and intelligence, they would have never even made it that close to candy. The two main slave characters were the two most intelligent in the movie. The wife spoke French and django orchestrated and completed the entire mission, the white guy was there just to give credibility to django, but it was django's manipulation of candy that made the mission even possible. And it was his quick thinking, and again his intelligence in manipulating the stupid white people, that made him victorious.

ALL the white people in the movie were bumbling idiots, even the Uncle Tom had a little more sense than his master.

Django suppressed the rage/anger to stop himself from fukkin up the plan that Dr King had come up with to save his wife, once Dr King was out of the way, Django finally became unchained and did his own thing

You would be he one to guess that.....not me. :heh:

All I know is, slaves were very systematic in paying back their owners that traded away their families.

You had some that waited as long as 20 years, slowly poisoning their owners entire families...just to pay someone back. But that doesn't work well with movies.

For the most part, yes...the white folks were bumbling idiots for most of he movie. And honestly, I'm glad QT touched the psuedo science of the time regarding the black brain when having Leo's character talk about his former slave whose skull he had in his hands. I won't sit here and say the movie COMPLETELY missed everything, but I'm sorry. Django was led by the hand for the most part throughout the movie.

So, now there's a slave doll to accompany this movie as some type of movie souvenir. :rudy:

Whoever purchase this, I hope the dolls come alive like the ones from Tales From The Hood and gut 'em for making a mockery. :pacspit:

really you guys are seeing some of what you want to see.

If you really pay attention to the movie, you could see the character progression of Django surpassing Shultz. The crossroads occurred on the way to Candyland when Shultz thought he was correcting Django but ended up getting corrected by Django. The movie isn't as bad as you guys are making it.

He did use it to get them there but they had no idea that the White Savior would die. Django, learned, equaled, and surpassed him all in that one film. I don't see how you guys didn't notice this.

As far as the social commentary, you are right, we discussed this at great length in the Arcadium.

You know how I know this is a great film? This is a 41 thread post. There is another thread in HL on this film, and about 10-15 in Arcadium.

This is a great art. People interpret it in different ways.

The film is a classic film.
