Django Unchained Dolls? This is what exploitation looks like folks. That's right your kids can own house N!gga Stephen and Slave Master Calvin Candie for a price. SMH, Black people need to wake up. Hollywood just straight trying to make "Slavery" mainstream with this movie.

Those look like collector items, not surprising. You don't see that at Toys R Us. Yall nikkas need to chill, this film is a straight up black revenge flick.

LOL @ people trying to downplay the Django Dolls. It's clear exploitation of Slavery and it's pathetic. Al Sharpton is now boycotting the Django Dolls:

'Django Unchained' action figures spark call for national boycott by Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network

'Selling this doll is highly offensive to our ancestors and the African American community,' Rev. K.W. Tulloss, NAC's president in Los Angeles, told the Daily News.

Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network called for a national boycott Tuesday of action figures based on the controversial and blood-soaked slavery revenge flick “Django Unchained.” A 10-doll assortment of characters from the film was going for $299 on Amazon Tuesday.

“Selling this doll is highly offensive to our ancestors and the African American community,” Rev. K.W. Tulloss, NAC's president in Los Angeles, told the Daily News. “The movie is for adults, but these are action figures that appeal to children. We don’t want other individuals to utilize them for their entertainment, to make a mockery of slavery.”

Tulloss said he hadn’t seen Quentin Tarantino’s movie but heard it was “very good.” Fellow activist Najee Ali from Project Islamic Hope spoke alongside Tulloss in Los Angeles Tuesday and said he’s seen “Django” two times already.

“I actually enjoyed the movie, but we cannot support this type of commercialization,” Ali said. “I don’t seen any dolls representing Hitler that came from Tarantino’s (Holocaust movie ‘Inglourious Basterds’)...I don't see them making dolls of Holocaust survivors who are bald and starving in concentration camps.”

Neither doll manufacturer National Entertainment Collectibles Association nor licensing partner The Weinstein Company, the film studio behind “Django,” offered immediate comment on the controversy.

The new doll collection includes 8-inch action figures for Jamie Foxx’s lead character Django and his on-screen wife Broomhilda.

The call for boycott came after “Do The Right Thing” director Spike Lee said he considered the new movie insulting.

"American Slavery Was Not A Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. It Was A Holocaust. My Ancestors Are Slaves. Stolen From Africa. I Will Honor Them,” he wrote on Twitter ahead of the film’s Christmas release.

Speaking in Berlin on Tuesday, Tarantino defended his latest work saying the brutal abuse he portrayed pales in comparison to what slaves actually endured.

"The truth, or the reality, was a thousand times worse than what I showed,” he told reporters ahead of the film’s launch in Germany.

His “Django” is a modern mash-up that borrows heavily from the spaghetti western and blaxploitation genres, critics say.

I don't think Spike Lee understands how current online advertising works. They tailor specific Ads or products depending on the person's searching habits.

Look at the ads on the site for example, they target different people depending on the person's action online. There was a massive thread about people receiving different ads. For example, some of the banner ads are from my school and advocating the MBA program.

But aside from that, I defended the film and will defend the film as artistic expression, but these fukking dolls are shameless and disgusting.

I'm all for artist expression which is why I gave QT a chance with "Django" and watched it myself. I did not pay for it cause If the film was exploitation I didn't want to fund that. From a entertainment standpoint, I gave the film a C+ and said there were good parts about the film. I still side with Spike cause I agree that Slavery was a Holocaust and turning into an Action Adventure does take away from the real horrors of it cause it was Hell not an Action Adventure.

The film also was way to comedic for the subject matter. The Django Dolls only accent Spike's point about exploitation. Call them collector's items or not there were no Holocaust Hitler Dolls. The same way we saw Mandingo Fighting and a slave ripped apart by dogs, there were no Jews being Tortured in "b*stards" cause they wouldn't allow it. Again art is art and I understand that but exploitation is exploitation and there is clearly some of that going on in "Django".

We don't need fictional slave adventures. We need Nat Turner stories or Harriett Tubman stories or the Haitian revolution. These are stories were we fought for our own freedom and didn't need a White Savoir film plot to make Whites comfortable with the story. Slavery is not just Black History, it's American History and Hollywood needs to stop watering it down to sell some tickets. "Rosewood" may not have made money but it was real. "Malcolm X" didn't make money but it was real. The stories need to be told in the proper way.

I don't get it. How is all this outrage warrented. Slavery as fukked up as it was, is a very real part of American history. Movies, books, dolls, and anything else you can think of are released with themes from any other time in American history, but when it comes to slavery black folks wanna act all sensitive about it. This is why we can't have a real conversation about race, or racism, or the effects of slavery, because we are too busy getting outraged about silly things like django. White folks try to forget that slavery even happened, what's wrong with keeping the stories alive?

movie was great and in no ways was I offended other than the mandingo fight but i think that was the point of it, to show the depravity and racism of Candie. All you pseudo militant nikkas are embarassing...real talk.

A movie with a freed slave straight up styling on racist cacs for 3 hours and you guys think its bringing us backwards (a film of all things as well)

:pachaha:

LOL @ calling anyone who didn't like a movie "Militant". If we don't fight for our history to be told properly nobody will. These Django Dolls shows that Hollywood could care less about our History.

How was our history told improperly in django a fictional action movie? I agree that Hollywood as a whole doesn't give a fukk about us, but I do think some people including QT actually do care.
