the best part of this movie is just waiting for all the other non-Spidey fans.
to realize pete should have beat his ass from jump.

that is what makes Spidey great.
just waiting for every one else not familiar with petey.
to wanna see petey beat his ass.

this movie is great because out of all the rogue's gallery in spidey's pages.
mysterio is the one villain that is so bytchmade.

the anticipation of waiting on Petey to bash'em

once again is nerve rackingly good.

that anyone unfamiliar with actually reading spiderman can probably be turned a bit off.
yet for an experienced great Spidey reader and collector. The payoff has to be put off in such a way. As not to make the resolution So atypical.

this movie is arguably the best Spidey on different terrain Petey selling webs arc good as they come.

the early three hundred McFarlane run with a younger rookie card petey was a great angle to take.

for any real old school long term fan put off to reading the mag. More than twenty years ago. To get a reward like this was a great opening am club hour movie goer adventure. Felt like i was leaving amazing fantasy with a three hundred run McFarlane comic and spidey about to punch mysterio's head off. With all the twists and turns to prolong the usually quick inevitable. To the point the droopy cartoon comeback payoff.
that should be in every marvel arc was in full display.

Dope ass movie. Felt like a fresh spiderman movie and nothing reused from the last 5 spiderman films. Of course i knew mysterio’s history but jake killed it and had me believing him and honestly The Mcu not strictly following the comics made that doubt possible especially with some snobby comic nerds spoiling it for people( im a comic nerd btw)

I was a lil tight at the mysterio multiverse swerve tho since he said this is earth 616

:ohhh:

fuvk dc.

I just watched this episode of the flash.
where at the end with Barry's kid dissipating into nuffin and the big bad runnin off. cisco who should be helping Barry kill the big bad. Decides he does not wanna even have powers. Totally deserting Barry in the time of his kid dying.

that is why i hate dc. They make no fukk'n sense.

Also the movie wasn't political, but I definitely felt it was a commentary on "fake news" and people believing everything they see, along with Mysterio creating trouble just to come in and fix it later like a certain someone in the WH now.

I have to see this again soon.

Man it was incredibly political. The commentary was all over it. What you said it does, commenting on fake news and people believing anything they see and wanting a strong man to save them? That’s all political. Both Spider-Man movies have been surprisingly poignant politically

I can’t believe they’re actually gonna expose Peters identity, that was a big surprise
I said this in another message, but the reveal of Spidey's true identity wasn't that big of a deal for me.
Since the Raimi movies, Spiderman has been removing his mask (I know, I know it's hard to show Pete's emotions while he's wearing his mask) any time he fights a villain.
A quick count:
Harry and Norman Osbourne,
Doc Ock,
Both MJs,
Gwen Stacy
Aunt May,
Eddie Brock,
Electro,
Miles Morales,
Mysterio,
Sandman,
The Lizard,
The Vulture,
An entire NYC bus (or subway car, I can't remember) full of passengers,
Anybody who was watching (and probably recording) Spiderman fight the Sandman and Venom,
And some other random people I may have forgotten,
Have all seen Spiderman unmasked.
There's no way that none of them spilled the beans before this movie.
My only gripe with the MCU Spiderman movies is that they insist on showing Peter's face when it defeats the whole purpose of him wearing a mask in the first place. Even with a mask, MCU Spidey can emote, a lá Deadpool. I wish they'd find a way to keep Pete's mask on.

the post and end credits are confusing

are the kree saying the whole thing was a setup by shield, that mysterio was just a test for peter or them posing as fury and his assistant?

Also i like the JJ cameo at the end, but telling his secret identity in the mcu means nothing. everyone pretty muxh knows the heroes really except spidey but shield can just deny it i guess.

no tan lee cameo :mjcry: he's really gone

Rewatching homecoming and I just realized that Karen wasn't in it. I miss her voice in peters suit. But I understand it'd be too much like iron man with jarvis so they're gonna keep away from those similarities.

I almost felt sorry for that fukkboi Flash the end, almost

If he was a legit bully or something I wouldn't feel bad but he's just a clown with money so I felt sorry for him when he asked about his parents.

Had you ever seen a good Skrull before Captain Marvel? And I think the marketing did a great job of selling Mysterio as a hero. There’s no indication of the heel turn in any of the commercials.

I don't watch the marketing or read spoilers.
so I sat their the whole time.
like i really can't wait till Petey beat cho fake motherfukk'n fukk'n ass mysterio.

mysterio is a call back to a time.
when you got whipped for fake'n.
plus he has been a villain for so long..
the anticipation for his ass whoop'n is always crazy.
as he is so bytchmade. You can not wait for Petey to smack duke up.

Thinking about this made me remember how much I hate Garfield-Peter. Dude made him such a fukkin awkward doofus, not even likable, just weird. He was good in the costume but goddamn whenever he was just Peter I wanted to punch him in the face.

I like Holland's take. Yeah he's a little too hyperactive but he's actually charismatic beneath the awkwardness, Peter just can't express it all the time.

The MCU in general has a lot of political metaphor and stuff from conspiracies woven into the movies.

Civil war, nazi's, operation paperclip, infiltration of the government (Trump) ect.
Then you got Thanos playing the role of god/"illuminati" culling populations.

All I could think about watching Mysterio was all these "deep fake" videos getting more realistic and more scary and how there's already tech that can make what we do see all the more convincing.

So many parallels.
