In 6 years the only villains of his I can recall are mexican Scorpion and his uncle (and both don't exist anymore).
There's also Venom who killed his mom.

Now I agree that since Miles was brought into the 616 universe, nothing interesting has been done with the character, but Miles has had a considerable amount of growth in the Ultimate Universe

Miles isn't a "scrap", he's an opportunity.

He's 6 years into his infancy. First 3-4 years was decent to good growth, last 2 years a bit stagnant. But that writer shackling him is gone so now he'll have a 2nd chance at growth and, more important, a big budget movie for global familiarity.

If this movie is good and does well, then that's a major win for black characters on this platform bc it's a rare opportunity. Plus comics are always gonna range from bullshyt to "questionable at best" for black characters. We see that even with the greatest of them (BP and Stewart) who have been around 40-50 years apiece compared to Miles 6.

So if you don't like Miles or think whatever, do you bro. But all this "it's a shame..." nah its' a celebration that we gettin a kid's movie about a black chidlren's superhero for the masses.

The book certainly ain't trash. There are times where i enjoy it immensely with what it was trying to set up, and other times it felt like Bendis has ADHD with following through on plot points.

6 years isnt infancy. and in those early years he was merely a stand in for another character. jumps to a new world with new possibilities and he still stagnates. put him in the middle of team ups and event and hes the weakest link when of all the the characters post secret wars he should be thriving. weve had heroes establish more in much less time. strip away the spider man name and what are you left with? they could have done something with night thrasher, eli, debrii rage or power man. but instead they use stagnant miles not because hes interesting, not because hes a character kids can look up to, but because hes a spider.

6 years is infancy compared to the 40-50 year and 60-70 year characters. Plus Miles new solo starts with him beating Blackheart after Blackheart solo'd the Avengers, which had people complaining that he's OP. Which isn't the first time he's been called that. For detractors, he'll either always be "OP" or "the weakest link". It's whatever.

The big thing is: you say Miles isn't interesting (to you) but myself and others are saying he is interesting (to us) and that he is a character kids can look up to. So we can both state our own opinion as fact 1000 times in a 1000 different ways, but now we're just wasting keystrokes. :manny:
