Pretty good movie
You'll like it a lot.... but at best the 3rd best comic book movie of this year
Not the GOAT movie of 2018 that some loved to exaggerate

I think the movie's most brilliant achievement was transforming Spider-Man from a mere extension of the Peter Parker character into a genuine archetype. Cf. Superman and Batman; the characters of Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne merely exist as extensions of their costumes; mere after thoughts; this allows for a certain amount of flexibility in storytelling. Spider-Man, on the other hand, is the story of Peter Parker. The problem is after 50 years of comics and 16 years of movies, everyone knows Peter's story; who he hates, who he bangs, etc. etc. The returns are diminishing. ISV cuts the Gordian knot, and shatters the dependence of the franchise on the Parker character, an extremely bold choice, one that should be followed by more superhero franchises (the Batman/Bruce Wayne dynamic is stale as fukk, for instance).
