Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse [June 2nd 2023]

This was fukking sick. Bravo to animators, actors and directors.
Train was headed to the moon, miles says “that doesn’t sound good!”
They didnt really do a great job explaining where tf they were going once miles broke out the clubhouse
Doubt it would happen but this was Oscar movie of the year material. The small intricacies and Easter eggs and small details woven throughout the whole movie is incredible!

Listening to Spider-Verse playlists on Spotify and the first movie’s soundtrack pops up. Some of the songs from that movie seem like foreshadowing for the second now. Especially “Familia”. That song is specifically about going after someone threatening your family. Makes me wonder if they had the entire trilogy mapped out before they started.

I hope they win every animation award. Their hardwork deserves all the praise.

They’re really gonna have to come up with excuses for this movie not receiving the honor if Disney’s Wish is just not as good as this one because the award more often than not goes to big studio produced animated features and Spiderverse basically has near zero competition, critics didn’t care for Super Mario, they didn’t like Elementals, they’re not gonna care about Trolls 2
and the upcoming teen girl Dreamworks movie looks alright but that’s not Oscar winning material. This movie’s only competition is the upcoming Ninja Turtles movie and Wish.What’s going against it is that it’s a sequel, detractors will argue it’s not even a complete movie, and if they give it to this one, what happens if they nail the third one as most people expect them to, it’s gonna win three Oscars in a row which would be unprecedented. Based on its merits, it should win by a landslide in my opinion.
They definitely had the broad A-B-C of the story envisioned. In the first movie when Miles meets his earth's Spiderman his spider-sense graphic starts out green & purple before transitioning to red & blue, indicating he was originally meant to become Prowler like the Earth-42 variant.

theres a lot of direction the 3rd film can go in terms of both stories and/or other spider characters
but i was thinking about the whole concept of canon events as explained by miguel
the whole Miles/Prowler arc ofc, The spot and the conflict about saving his dad ...
to keep in line with spiderman having to sacrifice, i could see our miles having to swap places with 42-Miles being the only compromise to save his father ... he just won't get to experience it himself, but his alternate self that lost his pops gets to live that life
it would be in line with the whole "you can't have 2 cakes" theme

i don't think his logic holds - earth 42 was supposed to have a spiderman, but the world didnt collapse because canon got disrupted
so it seems like it is actually Incursions (dimension hopping) causing the worlds to collapse
either miguel knows his theory is wrong and is lying, or what is most likely is that he is following orders from a spiderman higher in the hierarchy
the only missing spiderman that could be a "villain" who enforces traumatic events that shaped a hero would be superior spiderman imo .... Doc Ock was influenced to be a hero after experiencing peter's memories, it would make sense that he thinks they are necessary for spider people to become heroes
him presenting/looking like peter while being pragmatic like doc ock could convince miguel he is the "leader" of the spider people
only thing is it feels like it would be a lot to add on top of the conflict with The Spot, and existing story arcs to wrap up ...
I could see Silk, Madame Web and MCU Spiderman all making cameos in the 3rd too

if it wasn't for the Jon Majors allegations right now, Sony/Marvel could have even had Kang pop up in the 3rd as he is traversing/conquering timelines to tie things all together, tho i think this would be too much of a reach right now
