Sony’s biggest hit of the summer, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, won’t be getting a release in the United Arab Emirates, Deadline confirmed Thursday. The pic was set for release on June 22 in the Gulf region.

Apparently, the point of contention has to do with Gwen Stacy, and whether the character is trans. One of the frames of concern to UAE censors is a “protect trans lives” poster in the background of one scene. It’s our understanding that Sony wasn’t expecting a release of Spider-Verse in the UAE given their rigorous censorship process for kids movies.

Gwen's world, when she's having emotional scenes and the watercolor starts pouring down more rapidly, and starts to aggressively smear to match the tone of the conversation...is actually incredible.

Seeing Peni Parker being cheerful in the first movie to being downright depressed in this movie got me wondering what the hell happened with her?
EDIT: I just found out that her canon event happened in a comic book where she became friends with another mec, who created a Venom bot. The Venom bot started to take fully control of her and let's just say that it ended up killing her friend AND her Aunt May.

- the way Gwen's emotions reflected in the watercolors shifting in their apartment background in scenes w/ her dad.

- basically how they animated every angry scene withe miguel o hara's face

- indian spiderman's character design was fukkin outstanding, i hope miles lets his braids / dreads rock atop his mask at some point
