Firstly, I want to reiterate that I absolutely loved Across the Spiderverse. There is however one small thing that I would have loved to see teased in the multiversal scope throughout the film (and still might, fingers crossed), which is a glimpse of an older version of Miles that has "seen it all" and wants to steer our young Miles away from his dark path. Where on earth within such a dense storyline could you fit anything like this weathered alternate Miles into the story you ask? I'd love to answer that.
A large distorted frame of a man fizzles and crackles through a portal just as Miles thinks that he has found a moment to rest and catch his breath. His muscles screaming from fatigue, Miles manages to scramble behind an air conditioning unit and nestles his back tightly against the metal surface. Reaching out with his spider senses, Miles can't feel any threat coming through the dimensional rift, but dares not move to ensure his safe spot atop the city rooftop. He can hear the portal closing, but is stumped as to why there is no other noise to confirm who has followed him through to this universe.
"You look like you could use a hand kid." The tone of the man's voice cut across the night air in stark contrast to what Miles was expecting to hear. This wasn't someone he knew, and yet it sounded oddly familiar. Miles began to inch his head closer to the edge of the A/C unit to attempt a quick glance at the owner of this mystery voice.
"I forgot how lanky I used to be. Heh." Continued the voice.
"Who are you?!" Demanded Miles as he snapped back into his initial position.
"Have a look for yourself Miles. The answer might surprise you." The stranger ordered.
Having finally caught his breath, Miles decided to slowly stand and have a look. In the worst case scenario, he could easily leap off the roof behind him and make a run for it. The man was indeed a Spider variant, but he was wearing a black and red suit with his mask off, standing confidently with his hand resting comfortably in his pocket (How does he have a pocket?'). Miles scanned the man's face and saw traces of his own features and even some of his father's (or Uncle Aaron's).
"Don't think too hard on it man, I'm you. If you want to make it out of all this alive, I suggest you come with me."
More to come, Peace ya'll.
