Here's my main issue with the movie which is why I say it's good and not very good or even great: the emotional component they're going for is missing. I didn't buy the love story between he and swann or that she'd be the one to get him to make decisions that he makes. Exploring his past and his emotional wounds is good, but they've done that for three films prior so it really has to stick the landing on doing it for a fourth time and they kinda don't. The emotional payoff isn't earned at all.
And I don't know if the traditional bond tropes work as well anymore as they used to. Or maybe they could but just don't entirely on this one. Some do, like the stuff with the car and the watch and of course all the MI6 stuff works, and that train fight is beyond dope, but I'm not sure you can tell a deep emotional bond story while having all of those old elements in play. Skyfall balanced if our better.
And the ending is a bit hard to read. The first two acts are great but the third brings it down some notches and I think it's because the emotional story they're trying to tell isn't executed properly
