Did the midnight show because I'm a tremendous Bond fan with fairly unpopular opinions, but I stand by them. Just to get it out of the way, I felt Timothy Dalton's Bond is a far better representation than Brosnan, Moore, Connery, Lazenby, but on equal footing with Craig.

For me, it was the best Craig Bond, though Skyfall and Casino Royale are tied for second. Unlike the other Bond films, there is a bit more of a continuity and repercussions for his actions right from Casino Royale. Brosnan and Moore always got the reset button for their films, and Connery's Bond films had an arc for S.P.E.C.T.R.E, but the man himself, Bond, never dealt with any casualties of the game except for Tracy's death in OHMSS. Craig's Bond has experienced tremendous psychological and physical damage which we've not really seen for action oriented films. I thought the opening sequence was fantastic as it was a fitting mission for Bond to be dressed as skeleton during the Mexican Day of the Dead as he's been the Grim Reaper for so many assassins over the years (it also paid homage to "Live And Let Die" as well).

To those who say there wasn't character development, I'd say re-watch again, the Bond from CR to Spectre changes for the better (and I'll leave out the particulars).

To those expecting the main antagonist to be brolic and unstoppable, Bond Bosses aren't like that (unless they are ex-agents themselves), but normally that's why they literally have an army of Goons and Enforcers to deal with Bond and his people. In this case the writers were really playing up the global paranoia when dealing with terror and notion of "Big Brother is always watching" to a fairly realistic degree.

Speaking of Goons, Bautista did the damn thing, and I think in his opening scene they tried to imitate The Mountain vs The Red Viper from Game of Thrones, you'll see what I mean. Overall, that guy wasn't human with the amount of punishment he survived, so he is on the Jaws-level of Goon for Bond. He gave Bond that work in a manner I've haven't seen in the 23 films prior to this, trust me.

The quality of Bond Girls has been top-notch, though that is another thread, but unfortunately not enough Monica Belucci as I thought it would be, but to be fair she wasn't as crucial to the plot in comparison to Swan's character.

So glad I stayed away from trailers and everything else related to the movie.

I plan to be there tonight.....Watched 40 min or so of 'OHMSS' last night, I always loved the ending, but it's aged since I saw it in the 90's as a child on those TBS marathons....Lazenby is pretty poor as Bond though, no edge. Threw on 'Skyfall' too for some continuity going into 'Spectre'.....held up too for the most part, the last sequence is the films strongest, and the Shanghai scenes....the weakest are the intro and after they catch Silva, to the closing action. The cinematagraphy on the moors is just gorgeous, and the action was tense and well shot.

LOL @ 'View To a Kill', my friends Dad put me and my friend on to that in like 4th grade, and we loved it...but it's such a bad Bond movie, Moore is damn near 70 :dead: going to bed with Grace Jones, it's fun though.....The Dalton ones were favorites of mine too, very much the same vein as the Brosnan and Craig interpretations....darker and more scarred. 'Goldeneye' was such a great Bond, but they doubled down on the absurd in the Brosnan franchise and lost me.....excited for 'Spectre', though I suspect I will agree with perhaps too much of the critiques.

'Spectre' Producer Expects Daniel Craig to Return for Another Bond Movie

James Bond film producer Michael G. Wilson says he expects Daniel Craig will return for a fifth outing as the iconic 007.

"I think we've got Daniel Craig," Wilson tellsThe Hollywood Reporterin an interview, waving aside the actor's recent protestations that he was through with the role. Wilson makes a comparison to director Sam Mendes, who said he was done with Bond after 2012's Skyfall, only to return for Spectre. "[Mendes] said they were never going to make the picture again, and he told the press that."

Asked if Craig was legally bound to do another Bond film, however, Wilson acknowledges: "We don't have a contract."

Wilson says he has met with executives from the prospective studios. Asked how one would be chosen, he continues: "It's almost impossible for us to evaluate it except on the basis of their past successes or failures. That's the only thing you can use. You know, until you work with people, you can't evaluate their marketing executives or their publicity people... And we pretty much run the marketing anyway, ourselves. So they execute it. We create it and they execute it."
In terms of timeframe, he says a decision will be made "probably in January or February."

Did you mean For Your Eyes Only for Nobody Does It Better?

Yeah, thanks for that catch, but yeah, FYEO is down there....To be honest, I can only get through a few of the Moore Bonds as the camp factor is a stark contrast to the somewhat serious approach to Bond (though DAF torpedoed that notion). I can only imagine the piffery that Dalton's Goldeneye would have brought us as fans of the franchise. Too bad studios got involved....

I will probably go see this again with the lady as she is a passive Bond fan.

FYEO is actually my favorite of the moore eras, tight opening song, moore gettin vicious (that part where he just kicks dude in the car over a cliff :wow: and a gully ass fight with the obligatory bond villain with blonde hair *rogers fights suck but i gotta say they did a good job of making him look bad ass)

i think my list as far as RM is concerned goes

the spy who loves me
for your eyes only
live and let die

but i cant wait to see this i hear the visuals are insane :whoo:

You are in for a treat my friend, the homage to OHMSS will make you nod your head with approval.

The marketing campaign for this is insane.

Every time i turn on the tv there's commercials and they are sponsoring podcasts too.

That's normally a sign that the movie isn't going to be good.

:leon:Just got back and I think I liked Spectre more than Skyfall and I love Skyfall. Skyfall is prettier to look at even though Spectre has beautiful shots also, but IMO, Spectre's story is better. Watching it multiple times since its release, Skyfall's story kinda falls apart for me after 007 "captures" Silva. In Spectre you get all the Bond tropes including the Aston Martin, Q gadgets, a Goon(Batista) and I like how they involved the M team.

This film is average 3/5

Pros
- Opening scene in Mexico
- Cinematography
- Action

Cons
-Plot is weak
-Script is bad
-Christoph Waltz criminally wasted
-Used paint by numbers Bond tropes even though, the point of this reboot was to do away with that.
- Soundtrack

Its better than Quantum (not hard to top) not as good as Skyfall and should not be mentioned anywhere near Casino Royale. Yes we all have an opinion but anyone saying this is the best Bond, best Craig Bond or best anything, is a fool and I don't care how that makes anyone feel.

Craig has done his thing and deserves credit but this should be his last one. I noticed it in Skyfall and is very apparent now that he has aged terribly.
