We're in a nationwide blizzard. Every airport is looking like this the last 2-3 days.

No they aren't, I've flown thru 5 airports the last 4 days...

Everybody is dealing with cancelations but no one has as many as Southwest. I flew SW back home for Christmas (El Paso to Phoenix, Phoenix to Raleigh), and I flew Delta back to El Paso. SWA is garbage, just terrible on every front, mediocre flying experience. No doubt their sales in the immediate future will be impacted by this, it's gonna take awhile for them to recover, if they even can...

Wait times...nowadays a bit longer, but outside of freak weather and other anomalies, waiting is not that long

Lost luggage...knock on wood, pause, I've been on a plane at least 50 times...never had a piece of luggage lost, delayed

FWIW, if you convince each person to fly internationally we can pretty much just say fukk the planet in our lifetimes.

A single transoceanic round-trip flight uses up a person's sustainable carbon footprint for the entire year.

Make rail more affordable and give riders a dope experience. ..stupid you can't have a pet with you on a train though...they lax the laws and I see people using trains to cross country travel. You can't beat the scenery.

Gotta make ticket prices to compete with airlines though.

I use southwest all the time because they are HQ'd where my kids live in Dallas and have direct flights to Chicago all the time for reasonable prices.

Basically, you get what you pay for… secondly you suppose to always have a plan B if your flight is cancelled…. Like getting a car rental and driving back… most folk traveling these airlines don’t have the funds to rent a car one way back home

I flew from NYC to Chicago yesterday. Southwest is fukked up.

Our original flight was Christmas Day at 6 am. While on our way to the airport they sent a text that the flight was cancelled. It sucked since it was 3 am in the morning but at least we were able to turn around and go back home.

We rescheduled and found a flight at 2:30 pm the next day. The line to check the baggage was insane. I told my wife to take our 6 month old and talk to a rep. They were nice with us and had us check our bag outside to avoid the line and get to our gate.

Once at the gate, it became crazier. There was a flight attendant across from us in the gate that was stuck in nyc since Friday as they kept cancelling all his flights and he just wanted to get back home to Chicago. Simultaneously, Southwest kept pushing back our flight and they couldn’t give us any answers.

The pilots showed up, however they had to get on the intercom and ask numerous times if there any available flight attendants in the terminal. I’ve never seen anything like this and this went on for about an hour. Finally the off duty flight attendant across from us got up, went to the gate and I guess called his supervisor. We were able to take off as he threw on a southwest sweater and got to work.

Hope he got paid well for doing that as he saved our flight. The southwest flight after us got cancelled.

Yeah someone at work had mentioned this, and looking throughout my high sector today (I'm an Air Traffic Controller for a center) I could hardly find any SWA flights lol. Mostly it's due to low number of pilots/crew, and they need to recuperate and thus are unable to work those hours thus the delays.

I'm pretty jealous of some of the other carriers tho, they ended up getting a big pay raise over the next few years due to low staffing + high hours.. Meanwhile we are sometimes stuck working mandatory 6 day work weeks with 2 hours on shift with low number of CPC's (certified controllers) and our raise isn't even enough to cover inflation
