What is Sony worst nightmare? Just a month ago Sony was riding high! Sony Stans were ablaze with the knowledge they have won the war before it even started (at least in their minds). Yes Microsoft royally fukk up with their PR, but you can never count out the incumbent champ of consoles. When the new Xbox boss arrived he had a immediate effect. MS decided to listen to the consumers. Some will argue it was about pre-orders etc. trying to deflect the issue, it still comes down to consumers. Consumers are the ones who buy the systems pre-order or at launch.
MS has reversed most of the things that had gamers so divided. So now we have a console that is still the best entertainment device, still comes with Kinect (but be can turned off/unplugged), a superior headset, superior online, dedicated servers, the 2.0 of goat controllers, tv integration, superior multi-tasking etc. not even including the kinect just in software features alone its worth the $100.00 extra.
Sony has been in copy mode for the last 2 gens, they have not advanced the gaming community. In the past they enjoyed higher consoles sales which made them the defacto standard for games. They don't have that advantage anymore. Now that MS has all intents and purpose leveled the playing field. You see Sony's greatest strength "social media" is also its greatest weakness. The world has a very short attention span. By the time Oct./Nov. comes nobody is going to be talking about "180" blah blah other than die hard Sony stans. Joe public will be at the store buying the new systems based on perception and perceived value for their money.
Believe what you want the Xbox Ones give a lot for the money for the $500.00 you spend, when MS marketing blitz hits the air, how will Sony counter? Just saying you are a $100.00 cheaper makes you look cheap esp. when MS will have the most launch games in a wider variety. Now add in the TV integration, Sports, Kinect etc. thats a tough pill to swallow
I'm sure both systems well sell this holiday season. And it will be a close race. Lets be honest Sony does not think they will crush the X1, it will be competitive. Its way to early to say who will win or who lose the next gen, but it will be close and that is a good thing for all gamers!
