So when I say market consolidation already exists due to third party exclusivity agreements and shouldn’t exist do you disagree?
Negative, don’t understand how exclusives = consolidation when we had the 360/PS3 era. Which was the time when both companies had plenty of exclusives and parity was at an all time high.

Sony has to do what they have to do

they know with M$ acquisitions it's not about gaming or the lack of games they have the money to make there own shyt but that's not going to put game pass on other consoles.

MS ideal world gobble every publisher/dev up putting everything only on gamepass and then offer gamepass on Sony/Nintendo ecosystem
and get everyone depended on there game pass like PC market is with windows OS.

The thing is gaming market is not the PC market were bill gates could weasel his way through things like they did in the 80's

gaming market is a creative driven market you can't just buy your way through this you have to make stuff that people are into.

fanboyism on the internet just will not allow some to see this.

back then M$ was getting exclusives just as much as Sony was so what changed ?
M$ never cared about making 1st party exclusives to keep their rotation fresh and 3rd parties realized it better to be on all consoles so Sony used thier 1st party studios to push consoles.

Mergers/acquisitions aren’t the only way consolidation happens. The console market has been consolidating since it’s height with PSX-2. And it’s been sony mostly benefiting from that consolidation.

Just recently y’all decided “consolidation” was a bad word that you need to crusade against :mjlol:

Your argument seems to be that anti-competitive behavior by a company is ok just as long as the company doesn't own the other companies. If you can keep games off your competitor's platform by going to partners and buying out their share that's fine because you don't own those partners even though you're effectively doing the same thing by keeping the game off the competing platform.

Given the position Microsoft is in right now it's virtually impossible for them to compete with Sony directly anymore. That's why Game Pass exist. That's why they're acquiring companies to bolster it.

But in reality all your arguments are disingenuous anyway. They're all constructed to keep the status quo going. If one company has a 60-70% advantage over the other some level of consolidation doesn't really mean much to the larger company. It's funny because even Jim Ryan admitted that PlayStation would be fine and all his arguments were in bad faith to block the merger while you seem to want to pretend to be pro-consumer and anti-consolidation because of that.

You guys have entire threads on “organic growth” where Sony invests in third party studios in order to own their IP.
