This sounds like a horrible idea. It would split the audience for sure, and I don't think people wanna pay another $400 so quickly (we're only 2 years in).

I'd pick one up though :manny:
Why does it matter if the audience gets splitted though? Just look at the 6 and 6 plus. The ones that wants a smaller phone gets it and the ones that wants a larger one gets one

Developing games. You'll only have some games that work on the more powerful system. It'd limit the potential user base

Didn't someone state in the previous page that it wouldn't matter as long as it has the same chipset or whatever? Just that the lower performance machine will have less good graphics

this is interesting.
Sony acknowledging the drawbacks of tying themselves down with a single version of a consoles hardware for an eight year cycle?

i know that console players will piss and moan but i have to say that the one thing that keeps me from consoles in that i can't upgrade them.
it is what it is and that's it....i really don't like that.

if i could get a PS4 with hardware that i could swap out and the devs took advantage of it, then i would consider hopping on.
but a static gaming unit is  to me.

i've upgraded my GPU 3 times in the past 4 years....my cpu, ram and psu are still better than what this gen of consoles are using.
my old gtx 560 ti would hold it's own against a ps4 with my current rig...and the only thing that i've changed is the gpu.

I dunno how that would work. It'd be like the n3ds. Only some games play with the new system.

I can see this happening as ps4k or something, long as the game catalogue is unchanged, no one is gonna complain.

Hell, nikkas actually bought mgsv for PS3 :mjlol:

Ps4k makes sense. Add hdmi 2.0 and it'll stream 4K content. No way it's gonna be powerful enough for 4K games though. PC isn't even there yet without spending $1500-$2k on gpus alone.
