Sony and Microsoft both need to create consoles that can be modded.

Tech is moving too fast and they can't just release a new console every few years so they need to create something with easily removable hardware and just release upgrades instead of an entire system.

Breh, technology has come so far from that bullshyt.

These consoles are already light weight gaming pc's with laptop hardware.

I'm talking about making the graphics card upgradable instead of integrated with the motherboard. Not some shyt you attach to the console to try to milk more performance than it was design to handle.
Cell phones are about to be stronger than these systems.

I guess you missing my point yes the tech is here but this is what you would get as they want to make as much off you as possible these companies dont want to do this as they would be leaving money on the table.

It isn't a simple "change the graphics gcard" setup with the consoles. The consoles use APUs that combine both gpus and CPUs. That's lot different than unscrewing a gpu, like a PC, and screwing the new one in. The current gen consoles are not easily upgradable. I don't think we'll see upgradable PS4s and X1s. They'll likely release a PS4.5 or X1.5 that has easy slot loading upgrades. That's the only way I see this working. But that probably won't happen until next gen though, if I'm being honest. I do see HDMI 2.0 slim versions of the current consoles that can output 4K streaming videos though.

That market fragmentation, though...

I heared phil spencer talking about incremental hardware upgrading first of all fukk all that upgrading you come with games your console will sale. Ps1 had terrible graphics compared to Nintendo 64 ps1 was still console of choice because of the games. Xbox and GameCube both had consoles that were better graphically than ps2 but ps2 was still supreme because of the games. You care about graphics buy a pc simple. Microsoft you want to move units provide gamers with games and exclusive titles we can't get for ps4. If they go this route all I could see is it hurting there brand even more. I still think new consoles should come out every 5 - 7 years with backward compatibility treating consoles lik there iPhones I don't fukk with that.

I'm not talking about now.

The next generation of consoles should be designed around being upgradable.

Like pc but more closed system, Sony and Microsoft should only allow official graphic cards through them, manufactred by one company.
