Cuz UPN and the WB used to regulate that sh*t, and only let good ones get on the air. Now cable done messed up the game.

couldnt agree more that was the only tv really for black people the sad thing I didnt realize as a kid is that we are such a minority that those shows did not do well in the ratings at all thats why the cw doesn't try to aim at black people anymore

u're missing out. "Sons of Anarchy", "Breaking Bad", "Boardwalk Empire", "Mad Men" etc. And thats just off the top of the dome

I have netflix and internet access if I really want to see something. I find that I have much more time for meaningful activities now. You keep the idiot box.

Im really questioning if it's the same writers to be honest. It does not have the same "feel" as it did. The entire original cast is about to be good as gone too (Malik, Jason, and Tasha the only ones left).

It really doesn't have the same flow. The way they wrote off Kelly and continued to show no growth from Melanie made me stop watching. I do believe its the same writers, but they just watered down the scripts to the satisfaction (censorship) of BET

It makes little sense to me becuz your thinking is that it takes a toll on my everyday life. I was just thinking about how bad shows stew compared to shows of yesteryear. That's all.
Show me where I said the bolded at kind sir? Your exaggerating I can only go by here i dont know yall cats. I just happen to quote your post or you quoted mine nothing personal. If that was all that was said about the shows I wouldn't said nothing to you cause I agree with that. If I didn't quote you I'm not talking about you cause like I said before people can disagree.

Black TV isn't bad though...

ALL TV is bad.

There aren't THAT MANY great shows on, especially when you consider the trash that's out there. I'm willing to bet the ratio of great/good/bad Black television is on par with the ratio of great/good/bad television in general.

Almost everyone is on social media now, a lot of people don't really care about tv anymore except it has some negative drama element in it.

Also real life drama is more entertaining to most of these clowns than fake acting with all this reality show culture (Thanks to the proliferation of MTV's influence).

You can even chat directly with these so called celebs now and know what they do in their daily lives with status updates.

TV will NEVER return to it's past glory people, it's OVER. Stop beating a dead horse.

:deadhorse:

People will only watch dysfunction of society like relationship drama, family problems, cops and criminals, crappy news/politics etc

Shows like the cosby show, a different world won't work in this very negative era/generation, SORRY.

You are better off just watching reruns of the old classics and raising the kids with those shows.

Because they try to hard to make nikkas appear to be well-off and doing so well.

I'm not saying we need another "Good Times" struggle show or something, but let's be honest, all black people can't relate to these bougie shows UNLESS the writing/casting is exceptional.
Fresh Prince, Cosby, even Family Matters etc., all had great writing, characters. Then those shows are great no matter what color you are.

Nowadays they think you throw a nikka on TV living in a nice house, working in an office job and it's a hit show. smh

In all honesty, now that I think about it, it doesnt matter what "color" the show is. Married With Children was a great show b/c it had great writing/characters.

Just seems black shows(as do many others) these days lack effort whereas we used to work harder to make our shows stand out

Have you watched 'Being Mary Jane", the new TV series with Gabrielle Union?

Her character is very successful, but her family members are a mess. They don't have jobs, so she supports them financially. In the first episode / pilot, he brother actually went to her job to demand for $500 so that he could buy his daughter a gift. The other brother sells weed.

The sad thing about today shows compared to the 90's, 80's and even the 70's that back then alot of the great black tv shows was on NBC or FOX..

I could remember every thursday Martin would come on followed by living single and then the GOAT SHOW New York Undercover :ahh: all on FOX

Now i use to watch the game when Tia was on the show it actually had a story line and Coby bell who play on burn notice had great parts.. but those actors on the show :snoop: acting skills look bad in a porno
