Something is telling me Steve Kerr might be in a serious health situation.

First surgery for two slipped disks at 18 (got undercut in a practice, mid-dunk); second surgery for slipped disk on the left side at 25; third surgery at 31, disk on the left. Each time the disk was compressing the nerve, causing the sort of constant nerve pain that can drive you to the brink of insanity. After the third I got no real relief (each disk surgery increases the likelihood of needing a future surgery, and decreases the effectiveness of future procedures) and I have vicious nerve pain. Barely slept for 18 months. Met with a friend of a friend who is a really talented doctor and she told me "never, ever let a surgeon touch you again. You're lucky you can walk. Don't let people fukk around near your spine. And don't trust surgeons, they always want to cut into you - it's what makes them money." So I started a long rehab routine that involved walking 8 miles every morning, changing my diet, stretching, and eventually progressing to more serious workouts to strengthen my core. Within 6 months I was back in good shape and relatively pain free. Within a year I was in great shape, biking 5-20 miles a day, doing full workouts, enjoying my life. Luckily never got deep into pain pills or anything like that. Then, unfortunately, I broke the fukk out of my ankle in January and now have to rehab that shyt. Just gotta keep pushing forward, take small tedious steps, treat your body well when it needs to heal, and not get too depressed that something bad happened to you. There are people outchea who can't walk, dance, fukk, etc. So a physical setback shouldn't kill you, just makes you appreciate your health that much more once you recover. But yeah, the back is no joke, I hope Kerr pulls through. He has access to amazing physical therapists and doctors, so his shyt gotta be real bad if he's still running up against it.

I know about your ankle reading this but is the back pain free these days? shyt sounds like a horror story.

Yeah man, back has been cool. *knock on wood*

First surgery was successful, was relatively pain-free for 7 years. Next one was successful, relatively pain-free for 4 years. After the serious nerve pain I rehabbed like crazy, had a workout routine I followed religiously, got into the best shape I was in since I played basketball, and been enjoying life. Ankle break was a freak accident. I got a really good lady in my life, she held me down throughout the recovery. And thank da GAWDS for my benefits.

He needs to take like a year off. Constant travel can't be good if you're trying to heal
This seriously might be the only way he really gets better. This taking couple months off, feeling a bit better and getting back into the grind is not working for him.

Not sure if I asked this before on here
i know it was a discussion with me and my girl one time but on some real shyt
how do you get cancer?
i havent had anyone in my family have cancer before or anything serious like that
i hope it aint a dumb question but for anyone whos had someone close get it what does it just come outa nowhere or something?
i hear about like real healthy people getting it too
shyt is just crazy to me
There's a million ways to get cancer, but all of this bullshyt packaged food Americans eat, combined with all of the pollution in our environments, add on all of the smoke/secondhand smoke, it's a miracle any of us DON'T get cancer.

But cancer is basically just the cells inside of your body overproducing.

I just assumed it was related to the back stuff from last year. Hoping it's nothing too serious either way though.
This. All the back surgery stories in this thread are bad news for me. I thought surgery was my answer but it may make things worse.

I lived with a herniated discs for 2 years. Searching and searching for a way to rid the pain...and i couldnt really find help from doctors. They wanted to cut me and prescribe me pain killers...

I started stretching twice a day for 20 min each session...its been a month since im pain free. Now im focusing on losing weight and strengthening my core...bro the pain use to have me in tears...on top of that sleeping was horrific because i also have a rotator cuff injury.

Ive learned to stop stressing mt body and to listen to my body when its exhausted.

Stay strong and rehab

Cancer is no joke though, seems like these doctors are just experimenting and throwing darts at a dartboard, even though there probably is cure for cancer out there. Chemo just seems really harsh on the body. Cancer doesn't care how much you work out or eat healthy, If cancer wants to take you out, it's going to take you out.

:gucci:

There is no "cure" for cancer since cancer isn't a singular disease. There's multiple forms and they work differently. It's not a virus, bacteria, or foreign organism that you can eliminate. It's your own cells so a treatment that works for one person may not work for another.

Of course doctors are just "throwing darts." Chemo was found by accident during WWII when soldiers got exposed to mustard gas.

Why did people speculate he had cancer or a pill addiction? His back had been bothering him for a while.

You make a compelling argument, So basically you're saying all this money that's being raised and all these people wearing pink in order to find a cure cancer is fruitless? It still wouldn't surprise me if a cure was out there though....

And if his back has been bothering for a long time, its easy to see how he could get hooked on pain medication..:gucci:
