Someone give a nikka a rundown on what's so great about Game Of Thrones?

Great writing....
Suggestive themes are frequent, rape, murder, suicide, patricide/Matricide, incest, etc.
If you like dragons and in general medieval epics, this is for you.
Even if you don't its a good story with plot twists and some real evil muhfukkers afoot.

Its not conventional, nor is afraid to explore said suggestive themes to the fullest.

I hate all athat English actor theater talk they always do in fantasy movies and tv shows. The promos look trash to me but when people talk about it :banderas:

Still haven't seen an episode though

Everything about it is great. The writing is incredible and intricate, a minor event that happened in season 1 will come back up and have a payoff in a later season. The cinematography is amazing. The music by Ramin djawadi is the best you'll find in television and film. The acting is fantastic as well. There's literally nothing bad about this show. No character is safe, your favorite character can die at any moment. It's just an amazing show.
This is one of the reasons why GoT got so popular. It's one of the first shows to use that plot device that not one of the leads is safe. The book especially follows this premise, but the show does a great job of it too. Given this it makes the show pretty unpredictable. It's also ruthless, raunchy, avoids being preachy and long winded like LOTR and is much more adult that HP.

Basically the love for GoT is about love for a true story. No one is really good or bad so you can choose who to root for. The mythical elements are Treated with subtly, which feels and is presented with vast differences as compared to the other two stories mentioned above.

If you don't like medieval stuff, you may not like this series, BUT this isn't set on any part of medieval Earth. It's a completely different world which has been set in this period for thousands of years. They have different customs than medieval Europe, different beliefs, different religions. It takes you out of this planet without being obvious about it

In general, I'm not big into medieval stuff, but it's really a non issue with this show. This show has everything you could ask for.

The show is a fusion of magic, espionage, "who did it" mystery, and war. Everything is connected so every character and location has a purpose. Nothing on the show exists just because which forces you to pay attention/use your memory.
