I'll give you a link to a site with all the episodes if you want/don't have HBO. There are a ridiculous amount of threads on here about the show if you want an idea of what the show it's about. I just don't get the logic of saying "I have no desire to watch it" and then asking nikkas to explain why it's popular. There are a lot of shows the coli brehs hype up that I just never got around or had the desire to watch. If the urge were to strike me to watch one of them, Id just do my Googles search for one of the threads about it and decide if I wanted to press play on episode one. :yeshrug:
I have hbo lol. There has to be something captivating about the show other than knights dragons and castles. I'm not trying to shyt on the show but what's so special about it that has everyone in love with it?

"Captivating" is extremely subjective though. I didn't know anything about the books this show is based on when the show premiered years ago. I literally only watched it because it was on HBO and HBO has a pedigree for making great TV. GoT is great TV. I could list dozens of different things outside of knights, dragons and castles that makes the show captivating to me personally, but that might not be captivating to you. I watch a bunch of shows that are nothing like GoT; on HBO alone I can tell you Westworld is nothing like Insecure, which is nothing like Ballers, which is nothing like Hard Knocks, which is nothing like The Night Of, which is nothing like Big Little Lies, etc. I know why I love GoT, but that wont answer your question as to why everyone loves it.

I don't know what to tell you breh, if you get bored one day and want to hit play on episode one, go ahead. If not, it's all gucci:hubie:I'm the type that can't be convinced to watch something that doesn't intrigue me so I don't try to convince people to watch stuff.

Well for one It's not your cliche good vs evil, good guys always wins story like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.

It's an extremely unpredictable and dark show with medieval intrigue, bunch of characters with questionable morals, realistic portrayal of war with the backdrop of an ancient evil threatening to end their shyt but almost everyone is too busy fighting each other to notice.

The show was originally pitched as a fantasy show for people that don't like fantasy. And it was even pitched to HBO as the Sopranos in Medieval Europe.

It's really closer to a mafia story than it is to a show about dragons. That's why in the main GOT thread, people form sets and rep their favorite house (or mobb family). The history of the world is rich, and the characters are complex, very little "good guys", and you find out quickly that the good guys that you do have don't always win...in fact they hardly ever win. That is originally what hooked people in season 1, how anyone could die.

The focus is more on family drama, far reaching political choices, sex, worldbuilding and deconstructing the tropes of fantasy rather than being a fantasy. At least in the first four seasons.

Most of the people I know that watch it, including a bro in law who hardcore hates fantasy, don't fukk with Harry potter or Lord of the Rings or Star Wars. It's one of those shows that you don't have to be a genre fan to like. There is a big joke in the film Lucky Logan where everyone in the prison, black, white, mexican, asian, are all begging for the warden to put more game of throne books in the library. And that's real shyt for how the makeup of this show is now. It ain't just former Dungeons and Dragon players.

What type of shows do you like?

I dislike medieval settings and dragons; fantasy in general is pretty much insta-bushes for me. Personally the early political conflict was the draw and, if you avoided spoilers, the initial feeling that anyone could die at any point was also intriguing. Most shows don't have the sense of danger that the early seasons of GOT had. If not for that, the politics would have been inconsequential.

Ehh I'm pretty random when it comes to tv. I don't really watch entire series unless they're done. Anything with action and good fight scenes.

Well if nothing else GOT has good action and fighting scenes. The larger scale battles are :whew:

Honestly just give it a shot. There's only one season left after Sunday's episode so it's just about done.
Either you'll @us "brehs you were right! :banderas:" or you'll be like ":rudy:never asking these fools their opinions on TV again."

I've never watched a harry potter film, lord of the rings file, or full star wars film.
I didn't get into GoT until it was in Season 5, but it was worth it.

Good show even if you dont normally like that type of stuff.
