IMO, DF12 is good to very good young college QB. I'll never agree with the idea that a roster full of 4 & 5 star players cant compete for a chip with a good/very good QB under center. Whoever believes that is basically saying Jimbo's a fraud who needs a legend at QB to win big.I think yall being too hard on Frenchie...
It also hurts that we were spoiled by Jameis. Frenchie is/was well ahead of where Ponder and EJ were in their development. Also you have to factor in that Jimbo doesn't allow his QBs really to develop a rhythm. Its a methodical offense thats beholden to rigid play calling. Could see those damn reverses coming from a mile away.
Does he have elite accuracy? No. However, he wouldn't need it anyway if the offense was more QB friendly (which is something hard to admit because that was one of the selling points of Jimbo at one time)
Plus he was playing Bama and dealt with Saban...thats tough.
Sadly Frenchie needed this season of reps to further his development. Now he won't get it. It's not about having elite accuracy or presence. Its about the level of comfort you have in the offense and in your game. RS JR Francois is/would have been a NC caliber QB....
Maybe Blackman has that gift of anticipation though. Hope so.
Is it really the Receivers or Jimbo's routes? I mean it's hard for me to believe that all these receivers we got in besides Noonie are average.IMO, DF12 is good to very good young college QB. shyt sucks man. I was looking forward to seeing him with these WRs. Thats the spot were nikkas need to be mad at. The lack of gamebreakers at WR made the emphasis on "execution" greater than it needed to be. This crew is MUCH more dynamic than the Rudolph-Bobo era. Defenses didn't even have to gameplan for those dudes.
Despite losing Dalvin, imo the offense had a higher ceiling this year.
If Johnson balled out when Golson came I don't see him benched. Only if he was mediocre.
All I said was that Francois holds on to the ball too long which is true.
And why is he transferring. Blackman hasn't even played yet. lol
But the name Blackman. Awesome. He's got to be great.![]()
Unless he plans on dropping down another level he needs to graduate by next August. Otherwise he'd have to sit out another year going to another big school.Well time waits for no man. He won't transfer if Blackman is trash but Jimbo's gonna keep recruiting so I'm kind of assuming he'll transfer that's all
Dear FSU Family,
FSU is aware that the publisher of the book “Champion’s Way” is due to release the book shortly. The author, a New York Times reporter who has written extensively about FSU, paints a mostly negative portrait of the football program, and wrote an article in the newspaper a few days ago as a way to promote his book. Here is FSU’s response from President John Thrasher:
“Demonstrating his lack of knowledge and understanding of both Florida State University and college football, this author once again has cynically mischaracterized our athletics program. His book does nothing more than retread ground that has been fully investigated by the NCAA or reviewed by the Atlantic Coast Conference. This is disappointing but not unexpected. Rather than offering a fair assessment of Florida State’s institutional commitment to confront the complex issues surrounding college football, this is simply more sweeping innuendo that misrepresents the university’s actions. We have every reason to be proud of our athletics processes and our people, and we’ve set a high bar for performance both on and off the field. We’ve moved on.”
John Thrasher
Florida State University President
I don't hate Jimbo. The reality is he could be a even better coach if he'd get out of his own way.
Just watched a highlight package of the Bama game on Youtube...after Harris scored the touchdown after the fumbled kickoff, who was on the sideline coaching Gavin up after his mistake???
5:52 mark
A true freshman in his first game....we may have one, fellas.
He is the crazy thing. I wish Francois well of course, but if he didn't get hurt would Blackman get on the field? I mean I'm sure Francois would have stayed till his Junior year and looks like we are on the verge of getting Fields. I'm just wondering if the breh would have had a chance.
Crazy how we went through top QB's with Johnson and Henry. But still have some on the roster. I know this is college but I don't think too many teams can say they have studs like that. @malbaker86 Don't you wish the Gators had a QB arsenal like us?![]()
Jimbo is straight up giddy about this kid. I believe injury or no injury, Frenchy would have been on a very short leash this year with this kid behind him. He just simply sees the field better than Francois and is much more accurate with the ball. I've been telling everyone who will listen, our offense is about to look a lot more explosive with Blackman at QB. The only cause for pause is his durability at his size.
