HUGE,HUGE Recruiting weekend coming up. Just my opinion but you can tell these big time recruits want a reason to come to FSU, but every big time recruiting weekend FSU has had this year, they've laid an egg on the field. FSU needs to show some signs of life these next two weeks

These results aren't hurting FSU at all. Trey Sanders and Evan Neal both watched the Clemson debacle up close.....and they're back again. These kids see a historically great program where they can be immediate impact players. For 3-4 years, your fingerprints will be all over the program. Can't say that about a Bama or Clemson where you basically wait your turn for 2 years. Willie about to haul in a great class and 2020 will be a monster class.

Some rumblings that Barnett and Snyder could be out. Looks Hampton is definitely out and Kelly could move to an off the field role

FSU Coaching Insider: Changes Expected After 2018 Season

Last year at this time, the Florida State football program was on the brink of a major coaching change. Jimbo Fisher was on his way to Texas A&M and the search for a new head coach was about to begin. Willie Taggart would eventually be hired, and he would spend the next six weeks assembling his coaching staff, all while salvaging FSU’s 2018 recruiting class at the same time.

Taggart is one game away from completing his first regular season as the Seminoles head coach, and at the end of the year, we could see some movement among his coaching staff.

After speaking with several sources close to the program, it’s reasonable to expect some turnover or changes with his coaching staff. It’s been a difficult season for FSU, they currently sit with only five wins and need to beat their rival Florida this weekend to become bowl eligible.

— I’m hearing the staff has battled through adversity losing a lot this season, and there has been some dissension among the staff. This isn’t uncommon with a team that’s struggling. Most of the disagreements I’ve heard about surround recruiting, whether it be who to offer or what geographical region should be recruited. The first year of a coaching staff has some aspects of ‘trial-and-error’ involved with it ,and this staff is experiencing that when it comes to recruiting.

— After the season concludes, I’m told Willie Taggart plans to sit down with each coach for an in-depth discussion on the season, their coaching performance and the future of what’s next for each coach. Based on what I’m hearing, his upcoming discussion with defensive coordinator Harlon Barnett is one to keep an eye on. There have been some reasons to believe Barnett’s scheme and philosophy don’t match with what Taggart wants to do. Although recently Barnett has shown the ability to adapt and change. He moved from he sidelines to the press box for the last two weeks and his defense was noticeably simpler this past weekend against Boston College, which resulted in FSU’s first win in four weeks.

I’m not expecting Barnett to leave at this point, he is the highest paid assistant coach on the staff at $980,000 per year. He signed a two-year contract when he arrived at FSU and would be owed nearly $2 million if he was fired. But if there is a scenario where Barnett does not return to FSU next year, there’s a good chance defensive ends coach Mark Snyder could be gone as well. Snyder coached with Barnett the last three seasons at Michigan State and was Barnett’s one hire, given to him by Taggart. As I said, the upcoming discussion with Barnett and Taggart is worth keeping an eye on.

— I’ve spoken with several sources within the FSU program and throughout coaching circles that believe FSU will go in another direction at special teams. Alonzo Hampton’s unit has underperformed all season, and he’s the most likely to go if/when there are changes made after the season.

— The possibility of a coach or two being reassigned to an off-field job is also something I’m hearing. Wide receiver coach David Kelly has been Taggart’s off field recruiting coordinator for the past three years, two at USF and one at Oregon. He was given an on-field job this season, but there’s talk that he’d be more valuable to the program if he was in charge of FSU’s recruiting strategy and building the culture in a full-time role.

We don’t expect any changes to the coaching staff until FSU’s season is over. There might not be any movement until after FSU’s 2019 early signing class is inked on December 19. We’ll update you with any new developments as they become available.

FSU aint used to this losing shyt :russ:. Got our "insiders" talking about beefs within the staff. This is what a staff trying to right the ship in year one together looks like :mjlol:. They're all in problem solving mode, so my piece of the puzzle might not match yours yet.....don't think that equates to dissension. Defensive staff won't change. He just simply needs pieces and it won't take long. Asante, Woodbey, Stanford, and Hamsah with a year under their belt with Jay, Dent, Cross, and Gant coming. Those DBs about to get back to thumping out there. Harlon scheme and philosophy about to be murderous at FSU.

Hampton might not be gone, depending on what he was actually hired for. It seemed like a culture hire from the start when they shoe horned him in as a special teams coach in the first place. He's there to help flip the culture. He had to be here this year to help Willie and his squad of Woodie, Pimp, and Kelly flip this thing. This shyt was like an Oceans Eleven narrative. Even asked Telly who branched off to do his own thing if he was in on the "big heist"? Hell, even got the young bull Auggie Sanchez along for the ride in year one to set the culture tone. Certain "crew members" had to come "home" for year one of this job. So a lot of these coaches might not survive the long haul, but right now, they're serving a purpose inside that building the fans can't see.

  • First and foremost, the Seminoles bowl streak ends at 36 seasons. It was the nation’s longest active bowl streak.

  • Also, the Seminoles fall short of tying the all-time record of consecutive winning seasons at 42. FSU’s streak of 41 consecutive winning seasons dated back to 1977. The last time they finished below .500 was Bobby Bowden’s first season, 1976, when they went 5-6.

  • FSU had a five-game winning streak against Florida entering the day. It was the longest FSU streak in the series.

  • First time since the 2009 season that FSU has lost to all three of their primary rivals - Clemson, Florida and Miami - in the same season.

  • FSU had not given up 40 or more points to Florida since 2008, when their quarterback was Tim Tebow.

Taggart turned the program upside down in one year.

THe most telling part of this is samuels arguing with him on the sideline. The guy has no control of the team or program.

@Lucky_Lefty Breh I was surprised at how much the announcer was going in on Taggart and the coaching staff. Not that they didn't deserve some of it but it was surprising you don't really hear commentators be that critical of coaches

Even before Taggart the program been on decline, but the lack of discipline, players not knowing where to line up, too many men on the field, etc 12 games into season was mad frustrating. Cant blame Jimbo or the OL on shyt like that.

From VT to UF I cant think one of thing FSU improved on this year. Taggart needs to tighten this thing up because this season was completely unacceptable and this is coming from someone who has his back.

This that clown shyt. You watched these same players with Jimbo go into November with 3 wins just a calendar ago. I don't wanna see any of you nikkas in next year's thread talking shyt when this ship gets righted. Where was your "Jimbo lost control" when the team was dead last in the NCAA in academics? Laying down for Louisville and signing promise notes after UNC loss wasn't when the program was lost?

Not really. They been low key doing it all year and they really going in if they look on social media and get that vibe from fans. Heard they OD'd on it today tho. I been arguing with old players all day cause they think the way they did it is the right way

9:15 p.m. - Confirmed that Hugh Freeze was in fact on campus today to interview for the OC position. Was told by our Tennessee publisher, UT is also in discussions with Freeze about a position there. However, was surprised to hear that Jeremy Pruitt isn't in a huge hurry to fill the position, while FSU is. That could help FSU's chances with Freeze if the job is offered.

On the other hand, heard he really wants the OC job at Alabama. Mike Locksley is a candidate for the Maryland and possibly other jobs. Should he take one of those jobs, sounds like Freeze would be pretty high on Saban's list to replace him.

Again, we are probably talking just days before this all shakes out.

And yes, there is something to the rumors about Deondre Francois' considering a transfer. If he decided to leave Tennessee is the most likely destination. However, this could easily change if Sam Howell decommits. How he gets along with the new OC/QB coach could also play a role. So it's all TBA at this stage.

FSU beat writers are garbage as a whole. Nobody had the scoop on this and now listening to Wake Up Warchant, nothing but negative speculation on Willie's part. Now they all "know" why Walt left, but no one knew he was leaving?? Walt got too many passes this year anyway. Offense wasn't coordinated, that's on the offensive coordinator. And Hugh Freeze is just a name being floated around by the fan base. I don't even think Freeze is a top 3 choice. My only concern is possibly losing Howell this late in the cycle.
