What other boxer would be able to beat James Toney in his prime 10 rounds to 2 (generously) if they were the same weight? We're talking about one of the slickest/most skilled fighters of all-time.

It's even arguable if Toney even won a round.

Name me one.

Prime Roy Jones Jr. was the best fighter I've ever seen. Going back to watch his fights on youtube made me realize even though I was a big fan, I still under appreciated what dude did in that ring.

True but Toney is down playing the win as of late saying he was sick and he had to lose a lot of weight 44lbs in six weeks. With that being said he is the champ he could have postponed the fight. Since RJJ was the challenger he would have to wait.

What I like is the argument somebody from the youtube comments of that video gave also:

James Toney did all that (lost weight) for his other fights before RJJ also and won doing it, that shouldn't take away from RJJ's win over him too.

i hate it when they use the "weight issue". toney was undefeated.. he was able to find a way to win in all his fights.. he faces jones and lost all of a sudden it was the weight?! give jones the credit he deserves.. young bernard hopkins too couldnt do anything against a prime roy jones..

Not saying that James Toney didn't put himself at a disadvantage though, because I'm sure it did have an effect. Completely agree with postponing if it was an issue as well.

As I said before Roy Jones Sr. Gave his son all the tools to be one of the most gifted fighters of all time. It's well documented of the extreme training methods that Sr put on Roy as a small child to a man. If you don't know look it up or you can hear a piece what his dad did to him.

The whole Terror Squad was there and he gave no fukks :lupe: Roy never got the credit he deserved cause he made everyone look like amateurs. They talk about Floyd being fast which he is, but Roy's speed was ridiculous. I was in awe watching him dismantle Toney.

True imagine if Roy had Al Haymon as his adviser or manager back in his prime? He would of been even more hated back then.

Roy wasn't scared of the rematch that's one of the main reasons why he went up to LHW but Toney took some loses and couldn't even make the LHW limit no more. Which is why he started to fighting at CW.

Means Jones was not scared of a rematch like you said. When Jones became the LHW king had every belt minus the WBO, Toney could of fought him then, but like I said he took some loses and he couldn't make the weight limit because he wasn't dedicated.

As for the video there's was talks last year or so with them both going back and forth on twitter about fighting again but it died down. Nobody wants to see them fight now and if they ain't making a good payday what's the point now.

lmfao that video in no way shows that Jones iddn't want a rematch.

I'd watch a rematch, but you're right it wouldn't be that good probably.

But cmon man Jame Toney would clearly KO Jones, if they're both in primes with good weight cuts

That's debatable Jones was undefeated middleweight champion and moved up to face James Toney for his Super Middleweight title and beat him pretty easily. Toney poor conditioning between fights is on him and he lost those are straight facts in the record books.

most talented fighter i ever saw. would have loved to see him in his prime agains calzaghe. their fight was basically a way past it jones.
Joe would have got washed. If that punch Roy dropped him with would have landed flush it would have been lights out. Joe had fresher legs than Roy in that fight from the get. Pulled the same shyt with Hopkins

The one thing I hate is excuses in boxing and tennis...because it's all on you. Your dedication and drive is what gets you results...IF you got injured in camp, don't fight. Doesn't make any sense. This is boxing...you could get brain damage acting brave and shyt.

Shame that Roy went back down in weight and started getting knocked out. Cause the record books would have showed him being the best fighter of this generation if had stayed at heavy. He more then likely would have beaten both Tyson and Holyfield. And the many Roy stans that were out there back then wouldnt have been able to stop calling him the greatest ever. And a lot of cats were trying to do that after he beat Ruiz. I didnt think that but i knew he was an all time great and i wish he would have just stayed at heavyweight instead of taking the Tarver rematch.
