when does the current CBA end?

NBA can rip up the current CBA if the season is lost under "the occurrence of a Force Majeure Event." Would likely lead to a lengthy lockout and much smaller contracts in the future.

It would be a tremendous sacrifice for the young players in this league.

Firstly, i feel the players should send a message. And if they can use their influence/money for an obviously bigger cause, then of course.

But, Why is the blame falling on Kyrie?
They can play without him if the other players truly decided to play the rest of the season?

But most importantly, why is basketball so important right now? Or any other pro sport?
the world is changing right before our eyes and we have to be apart of it. Specifically, socially and medically.

The shyt we convince ourselves of doing to remain oblivious. Thats depressing.

I don't blame the NBA because they'd be losing millions of dollars in revenue, and the players would lose the large majority of their income.

Austin Rivers brought up a great point when he said that most players don't make Kyrie-level money via endorsements and contracts.

Funny how woj and espn were quick to put up that kyrie the disruptor article before the friday night call even occurred and then austin river's corny response the next day fast as shyt, but they're nowhere to be found showing dwight agreeing with kyrie. That unity of my people and the european colonization quote must've been too much:mjpls:

I do agree that the superstars got in touch with Adam Silver and rushed things through without the input of 400 other voices and I feel further input is important. That’s pretty common within unions, especially when there’s a wide salary gap.

My personal viewpoint is that a celebrity’s place in this civil rights movement is the same as Sammy Davis, Poitier, Belafonte in the 60s. Cut the check to the leaders and keep doing them and earning to give kickbacks. You’ll never see me telling celebrities to speak or be more conscious. I want them to give money behind closed doors and blend in with the people. In modern times celebrities want to BE the leaders out front and social media has evolved celebrity worship to the point where that’ll grow. NBA canceling the playoffs, and having next season start date be TBA will only serve for ESPN & the “general public” to turn to golf, ufc or hockey to supplant nba as a major sport. I’m 34 and I was born at a time where NBA just became a major sport. It can go back. I can’t find how we benefit as a collective if one of the biggest majority black platforms we have is destroyed.

Boycotting the season and risking what I outlined can get my support if they present an outline ,in bullet point form, detailing what they want the league and owners to do that’s within their power

I always felt entertainers working behind the scenes funding the movement was always the best way to get things done. Cause all these movements need funding. Nothing can be done without the funding. From MLK, to Malcom to the Panthers. They all had regular, famous and rich folks funding them.

Also don't forget about the great dikk Gregory who in the 60s was literally handing over his mortgage checks and checks from shows to civil rights leaders

crazy how the media made a happy black man look immature.

Dwight HOF anyways

The bigger picture is how foolish fans (even idiots on this site) fall for the okie doke every time. Especially when its a black athlete.

The bolded quote - is a post from a teams college bball forum. The topic was about the star player losing a bunch of his Twitter followers, when he started talking about racial issues. Idk how anyone can upset about the players sitting out. These racist would love for something like sports - to come break up whats goin on out here

"If the tweets were to blame, I think people are just getting tired of everything that's going on. It's great that Geo is trying to make a difference and he's allowed to voice his own opinion.. I would never change my opinion of any RU players based on their political views or their opinions on race issues, but I can see why people would be at the point where they don't want to hear about this for a while... NBA players are now saying theyre unsure about finishing the season because people will be talking about basketball and not racism. It's getting a little ridiculous."

I'm gonna say it's the rioting that's keeping the incident (george floyd) trending on twitter/news/globally. I say this because, there was a big ass quiet BLM crowd in Seattle the other day w/o the looting/rioting, and it was barely trending on twitter.

Its always been like that during civil unrest. There are 3 things that has always got the medias attention in the states and globally when it comes to black folks civil rights. Riots, police brutality/or white violence and black folks boycotting.

Thats one of the things folks talked about concerning the 60s nonviolent protests when the news would show film of dogs, billy clubs and water hoses being sicked on black folks. Shamed the US globally and got white folks attention.

The same happened in apartheid south africa when folks saw that shyt globally on the tv screen.

Also that is the main reason why american news no longer shows dead bodies, blow up children and women when discussing war. Those images of vietnam had people protesting in the streets and helped end the war. Kinda hard to watch the 5 oclock news when you seeing babies with their faces blown off and women on fire cause a napalm bomb hit their village.

Going thru twitter, its hilarious seeing how many cacs are now saying sporting events are the best venue to get your message across :dead:

*riot*
"Protest peacefully:ufdup:"

*kneel*
"Sporting events are not the platform to get your message across:usure:"

*threaten boycott*
"You guys can kneel now:smile:"

Also a damn shame how no one on this board, including our astute coli historians, have addressed our dear beloved Bother Hodges now that he's spoken on this:francis:
