Maybe this is true for cacs. But not for us as black folks. Sorry but there are bigger things in this world than stanning different athletes. This is about trying to do whats best for our community. And as Stephen Jackson has said the best thing right now is to keep the focus on the protests and not let the attention go back to entertainment like sports which serve as an escape from the real world for many people.

Only a cac would think this movement is disingenuous.

who thinks this movement is disingenuous? while I dont think a "boycott" is the best thing long term, to suggest that people who do are being disingenuous indicates a lack of empathy at best and perhaps hatred as well.

Man just glossing over the reddit.... I cant lie, nothing pisses me off like people playing dumb....

these dudes acting like they never heard of a strike :mindblown:

"Stopping work does nothing":dead:

But the players shouldnt be trying to "draw attention to police brutality". They should come with an actionable stance if they plan on boycotting the season.

"We won't play in the face of racism and covid 19" thats an honorable stance, but it doesn't amount to anything.

"We won't play until the US courts take action to reduce police immunity" means a lot more.

Then you set the stage for a nationwide strike. But these are athletes not political leaders :yeshrug:

Everything about this post is clownish and borderline scary.

Name calling when you’re out of your depth in the subject matter. Without the platform of the NBA, most players are anonymous rich people that has the ability to fund the leaders on the ground. Which they can do already.

Bruh they have millions of followers They control their image. This aint 1990 when you needed news paper guys to get a message out to the public. They can directly interact with them.

I mean if the nba can use those 3-4 months to figure out how to make things work then its for the better.
Players are concerned about this bubble shyt

I do agree that the superstars got in touch with Adam Silver and rushed things through without the input of 400 other voices and I feel further input is important. That’s pretty common within unions, especially when there’s a wide salary gap.

My personal viewpoint is that a celebrity’s place in this civil rights movement is the same as Sammy Davis, Poitier, Belafonte in the 60s. Cut the check to the leaders and keep doing them and earning to give kickbacks. You’ll never see me telling celebrities to speak or be more conscious. I want them to give money behind closed doors and blend in with the people. In modern times celebrities want to BE the leaders out front and social media has evolved celebrity worship to the point where that’ll grow. NBA canceling the playoffs, and having next season start date be TBA will only serve for ESPN & the “general public” to turn to golf, ufc or hockey to supplant nba as a major sport. I’m 34 and I was born at a time where NBA just became a major sport. It can go back. I can’t find how we benefit as a collective if one of the biggest majority black platforms we have is destroyed.

Boycotting the season and risking what I outlined can get my support if they present an outline ,in bullet point form, detailing what they want the league and owners to do that’s within their power

Damn. Yahoo sports coming with the heat

Yahoo is now a part of Verizon Media

Lost in the NBA’s latest return-to-play drama: Kyrie is right

"When the NBPA approved the NBA’s plan, we took it for granted that the season was a go. But let’s take a look at the fine print. Here’s the statement the NBPA released on its website on June 5:

The Board of Player Representatives of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has approved further negotiations with the NBA on a 22-team return to play scenario to restart the 2019-20 NBA season. Various details remain to be negotiated and the acceptance of the scenario would still require that all parties reach agreement on all issues relevant to resuming play.

The NBPA didn’t approve a season. It approved a scenario. In the meantime, the NBA and the players who would like to trudge ahead with the season took a PR victory lap before earning it. :whew: Friday’s Zoom meeting was a reminder that you should never trot out the yellow championship rope until the game’s been won.:sadbron:

Consider all that’s been finalized before safety protocol: exhibition matches, roster sizes, access to golf courses; the time, location, format of games. If you’re an NBA player in the dark, why wouldn’t you be raising your hand wondering who’s watching out for your health and whether the continuation of the season is at all a worthwhile exercise:what:?

Considering the lack of effort to temper the public’s enthusiasm about the season returning, one wonders if the framing was deliberate:sas1:. The approval of the return-to-play scenario created so much optimism that legitimate concerns about playingwhether they are rooted in safety or social justicehave become framed as last-second heaves by disorganized late-comers:sas2:.

In any event, it’s not too late for players to speak up about whatever it is that bothers them about a return to play. In fact, this is their allotted time. The logistics of the bubble, its malleability and the players’ maneuverability were always next on the docket. Irving is not some interloper sneaking into the proceedings to wreak havoc before the die is cast. He’s an NBPA vice president, making an effort to hear the concerns of those he is trying to represent:whoo:.

They got Indian women as sportswriters now? :ohhh:

They got the power to do so :ehh:

Thing is Im curious what them stopping does specifically. Adam Silver and the league now have been pretty good with being aware of social issues and making donations, even most of the CaC owners are on notice. Even with the Sterling thing, many say they should have not played in order to remove him, but just the threat of them doing so gave them their wish. In terms of not playing so people can concentrate on putting pressure on governments to defund police and arrest cops, its already happening now and I imagine in the same way there was movments in 2014-2016 while the league was active that can still happen.

I will say this, it gets the owners and tv companies shook and means they as the white powers that be put more pressure on lawmakers in their positon of influence

I support them regardless of what they wanna do but I dont think theres a wrong move either way.

Your post is juvenile and screams safe negro or cac. If you took 3 seconds to think, you could easily answer the retarded questions you asked unless you're retarded or scary. You sound like both though.

If he does, would yall applaud him? Or will we be seeing that "Lebron Being A Of The Moment dikkrider" thread bumped?

Just asking :pachaha:

You might wanna check my post history. I've supported LeBron on pretty much everything he done off the court. I just find his game unappealing and disagree with his stans on just how good he is. Otherwise I've called him the perfect role model for black youth. Especially in comparison to Jordan and Kobe.

His stance of wanting to play right now is the first time I've disagreed with him on an off-court matter.

you sure it's not the video? it's rare to have damn near agreement of who's at fault accross media and politics...there were riots before, but mostly came and went

I'm gonna say it's the rioting that's keeping the incident (george floyd) trending on twitter/news/globally. I say this because, there was a big ass quiet BLM crowd in Seattle the other day w/o the looting/rioting, and it was barely trending on twitter.
