this hate you see Kyrie getting is why these companies and politicians worked to get unions thrown in the bushes

those who have more and rule hate to see when the little guy speaks up and fukk with their money despite helping make it :francis:

the whole situation is actually a scary mirror image of capitalism in this country

people are actually hating on him? I happen to disagree with him but that's no reason to hate on someone particularly when their intentions seem to be good

Funny how woj and espn were quick to put up that kyrie the disruptor article before the friday night call even occurred and then austin river's corny response the next day fast as shyt, but they're nowhere to be found showing dwight agreeing with kyrie. That unity of my people and the european colonization quote must've been too much:mjpls:
Woj is a piece of shyt that needs to be called out imo. I’m sure once bron retires he’ll go in on him

Firstly, i feel the players should send a message. And if they can use their influence/money for an obviously bigger cause, then of course.

But, Why is the blame falling on Kyrie?
They can play without him if the other players truly decided to play the rest of the season?

But most importantly, why is basketball so important right now? Or any other pro sport?
the world is changing right before our eyes and we have to be apart of it. Specifically, socially and medically.

The shyt we convince ourselves of doing to remain oblivious. Thats depressing.

1. Kyrie already isn't a likable player.
2. He's VP of the union.
3. He's injured and wasn't coming back
4. He's on a max deal.

To this point: why is ANY form of entertainment important? You tell us. To us, sports are preferred entertainment, but for these athletes, this is a job. They make a living off this. Covid-19 effectively denied a lot of people the chance to do their job. Now you have jobs slowly opening up, people going back to work. I've seen it here in NY. Those people that were marching, that happened right before phase 1 started in the city and come Monday, the crowds weren't as big. Why? People have to go back to making a living. We don't get paid to protest. That doesn't mean people are less invested in what's going on. They just have pressing needs that they need to handle. We've been mostly without sports for months now and if they come back, we can't attend them in person. What have we done? We've found other "distractions." For some, it's anything streaming. Others, it's game shows or board games. There's a natural distraction. It's called summer. Hell, this very site is a distraction. That doesn't mean we're less invested. If there are people only invested in BLM and black issues out of sheer boredom, the smallest thing will get them to forget about this. The idea that sports coming back will make us not care is low key insulting, like we're all retards who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Lost in the NBA’s latest return-to-play drama: Kyrie is right

"When the NBPA approved the NBA’s plan, we took it for granted that the season was a go. But let’s take a look at the fine print. Here’s the statement the NBPA released on its website on June 5:

The Board of Player Representatives of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) has approved further negotiations with the NBA on a 22-team return to play scenario to restart the 2019-20 NBA season. Various details remain to be negotiated and the acceptance of the scenario would still require that all parties reach agreement on all issues relevant to resuming play.

The NBPA didn’t approve a season. It approved a scenario. In the meantime, the NBA and the players who would like to trudge ahead with the season took a PR victory lap before earning it. :whew: Friday’s Zoom meeting was a reminder that you should never trot out the yellow championship rope until the game’s been won.:sadbron:

Consider all that’s been finalized before safety protocol: exhibition matches, roster sizes, access to golf courses; the time, location, format of games. If you’re an NBA player in the dark, why wouldn’t you be raising your hand wondering who’s watching out for your health and whether the continuation of the season is at all a worthwhile exercise:what:?

Considering the lack of effort to temper the public’s enthusiasm about the season returning, one wonders if the framing was deliberate:sas1:. The approval of the return-to-play scenario created so much optimism that legitimate concerns about playingwhether they are rooted in safety or social justicehave become framed as last-second heaves by disorganized late-comers:sas2:.

In any event, it’s not too late for players to speak up about whatever it is that bothers them about a return to play. In fact, this is their allotted time. The logistics of the bubble, its malleability and the players’ maneuverability were always next on the docket. Irving is not some interloper sneaking into the proceedings to wreak havoc before the die is cast. He’s an NBPA vice president, making an effort to hear the concerns of those he is trying to represent:whoo:.

shytting on Woj and them :lolbron:

Its obvious who didn't get cut a check. :mjlit:
