They want people to be paranoid and suspicious. Mega Millions cuts off sales 15 minutes before the drawing but Powerball cuts off sales one hour before the drawing. They know how paranoid gamblers are.
What are they doing for that hour?
If Mega Millions can set up a drawing in 15 minutes why does it take Powerball 4 times longer?
Are they looking at the computer to see what numbers have been played and haven't been played?
Are they looking for a certain state,city,neighborhood to choose a ticket from?
Any crazy conspiracies that happen they brought it on themselves but most of us will keep playing until someone can prove its fixed like the Hot Lotto story.

I can imagine that office senario happening all the time. I really don't have no problem $ wise getting back n the pool cept the lady that handles it don't really do printouts or anything. I mean I just would give her the weekly amount for 2-3 drawings and never hear nothing until she came round for payment the following week. I can tell she a gambler thru and thru tho and I know she play her own numbers too. I'm skeptical by nature, it doesn't help that i don't know her well enough to say if she would do something funny

Same store 3 different times. I got some of the same numbers on my first ticket with 4 plays. That was annoying
