Can snitching Stringer get some love? My favorite character from the Wire
Stringer got exactly what he deserved.
Avon summed up who String was with 1 line.

He didn't have villain characteristics? He ran a drug empire and ordered hits like people order pizza.
People are getting whether or not they like a character mixed up with if they're a villain. Marlo was a villain and he gave you a lot of reasons to hate him. Gus was a villain and he did a lot of cool shyt (the sniper scene, killing the cartel, etc.) so people like him more.
I never played Dungeons & Dragons but that alignment chart meme makes these conversations a lot clearer.

They fukked up by making the Breaking Bad spin off about Saul. Gus was the most interesting character on breaking bad and an series on his origin and rise to power would have been 
Basically, besides Good, Evil and Neutral (which are self-explanatory) there is secondary traits, Lawful and Chaotic. A Lawful Evil person would still be a villain but with a sense of honor and a code (like Avon) and a Chaotic Evil person would be....well, Marlo. I'll link a few examples below this post:
