My brain is WRECKED:mjcry: been interviewing for DevOps/SRE (supposed to be jr/mid level but most are sr)positions and the amount of questions and challenges they give me have my brain tapping out:to:

Just finished a 2 hour tech interview and I was messing up questions that I know I would've answered correctly if I wasn't mentally drained:snoop:

System design for over a million users :damn:

Design a algorithm to figure out the highest nth number in a server :damn::damn:

Giving me expert coding challenges from leetcode:damn::damn::damn:

Why do these tech interviews have to be so intense:noah:

Pray for me brethren :lawd:

Had a take home test that included terraform and aws. Thought that it was going to be a breeze but i played myself :bryan: what I had was sufficient enough and I coded it in a way that the head engineer was impressed with...luckily for me he had to leave for a family emergency..a few more minutes in and wouldve saw that my tests weren't working :whew:

Also had another interview that tested me on bash scripting and I bombed it...but somehow I still moved onto the next round:ld:

I guess this is a sign to keep on going because I left the tech world for close to two years and was ready to put it behind me:mjcry:

Anybody uses maven or gradle? such a big time-saver in Java.
In the process of converting a legacy application to use Maven. Used it on my last project to build Docker images and some Kubernetes configurations. Powerful when you take the time to understand it.

long shot but is anyone here a freelancer or can give me some advice?

So I'm currently in early talks with someone wanting help with completing their ios app and web app struggling a bit with how much I should charge(My team of developers will be doing the work) I also have yet so see any of the codebase or spoken to the old developer :francis: and the owner has 0 technical knowledge so im a bit worried it might not even be worth taking this project

The functionality he wants to add are ranked in order in terms of importance and I have highlighted the ones I think in blue could be a bit of problematic if there shytty code, everything else seems fairly simple add new page, change order pricing logic etc. Anyone have any opinion on what else could be a problem and also hours it would be needed to add the features?

1.Complete iOS Mobile App

2.Install ecologi api so that we start planting 5 trees for every order made. Once done ensure this is clearly and positively advertised on the homepage and when they make an order create a "Congratulations, you just funded 5 trees to be planted through our partnership with Ecologi.com!"

3.Ensure reviews counter automatically updated itself on the homepage as it currently isn't.

4.Update our Awards reel to include the latest additions I sent via WhatsApp.

5.Add a direct link for people to download the app at the top of the homepage for both android and ios

6.Work through the google performance upgrades for the website to help speed up loading times, accessibility and seo.

7.Install Facebook Pixels to the website.

8.Eco-Friendly Laundry Shop - Through the website we shall set up a page where customers can find eco-friendly detergents and other related products to purchase. We shall use affiliate links to forward them to their websites, receiving a commission if they then make an order - Saving us needing to store them ourselves. Detergents (Earth Breeze, Smol, etc.) Lifetime Lint Rollers Tree Planting/Carbon Offsetting Our own Branded Bags/Laundry Baskets

9.Create a new 'Wash Preferences' section for peoples profiles. Within this we shall offer customers the option to pre-select their wash preference options such as the detergent used, type of fabric softener, if they are flexible for a next day return, wash/dry temperature etc. As well as a quick description of each brand we have selected as an option, as this will be based on their environmentally friendly credentials!

10.Referral system to enable us to offer incentives to customers to invite friends and incentivise people to try us.

11.Create 'Wash and Spin Only' Service as an option under the 'standalone' and 'express' ordering tabs. (Usual £5 extra for express). Prices for 'Wash and Spin Only' service, will be charged at £2.50 less than for the regular 'Wash, Dry, Fold Service).

12.Referral system to enable us to offer incentives to customers to invite friends and incentivise people to try us.

13.Create 'Wash and Spin Only' Service as an option under the 'standalone' and 'express' ordering tabs. (Usual £5 extra for express). Prices for 'Wash and Spin Only' service, will be charged at £2.50 less than for the regular 'Wash, Dry, Fold Service).

14.A means that we can easily copy the email list to send an group email out.

15.Add the option for people to purchase multiple months worth of a subscription in one go - discount offered for the pleasure (suggested 3 month bundle - 5% discount; 6 month bundle - 7% discount; 9 month bundle - 10% discount; and 12 month bundle - 15% discount)

16.Make it possible to make ironing only orders with an extra charge of €3.50 for any order of fewer than 8 items; free delivery/no fee for 9-18 items; 5% discount for 19 items or more

17.A new page on the website dedicated to dry cleaning

18.Make it possible for people to order their ironing with their laundry order

19.Add a dedicated blog page which automatically features our social media posts. Also should be possible for us to create a post on the page for any milestones, celebrations or events coming up for example.

20.Suggestion box on the website for things customers want added

He is not sure exactly what technology stack was used to build his web app or his ios app :francis: so I'm trying to chase the old developer but he reckons it was the flowing below. I've highlighted what I think could be problematic in blue. The rest, Vue,Node seems pretty standard tbh

Vue Developer with experience using Dokku for app deployment for Front End.
Node experience for Server side / backend
Postgresql experience for managing and extending database functionality
Experience using and extending functionality of custom Node API
VPS management and maintenance.
Experience Using Cordova combined with Vue to build Mobile Apps.

If there is too much fukkery with the code think im going to have to turn this down

Piggybacking off the good brotha @Pyrexcup I have a question about pricing too.

Mine is much more simple than his tho. But how much would yall charge to create a frontend website similar to the Netflix site: www.netflix.com

I'm doing the UX part of it.

:jbhmm:
Front end work is 15-20 dollars for ukrainians/ russians at least not sure what going rate is for Americans
