This aint no regular 8 year old . He has a video showing how to write a calculator in C++, plus teaching a bunch of other material on there. He definitely lives and breathes reading and writing.

That's what we gotta do breh. To learn, we gotta eat sleep and breathe this stuff.

My personal mindset is that I'm "behind" and I know, I know, I shouldn't base my personal journey on others because everyone gets into it when they get into it.

But for me, I like having that mindset because it adds a sense of urgency that spurs me to spend every free moment learning as much as I can.

I'm now on the Problem Solving part of my learning track. I love this, because logic and reason is where I feel I'm most successful in life.

I always tell people that if I have one superpower, it's my ability to see a problem and solve it. I've used that skill successfully in my personal life, and also in my career (as far as being a small business owner).

If you give me variables, I can solve for x. I'm excited to see how my natural skills transfer over to at least the computational thinking side of programming.

Am I the only one who prefers a simpler IDE? I've been using VS code and I like it, don't get me wrong... and I can see the utility of it in a huge project (automatic fill-in and being able to fill in a doc with the stroke of a key), but in my learning journey right now, I love to just open up notepad and type my code from scratch.

I've been moving back and forth for now, but I like forcing myself to type everything in notepad. It forces me to practice writing code from scratch over and over, and it's been helping me to retain everything. Plus I find the constant drop down and pop ups in VS code annoying.

To be clear, I'm not talking about building an entire program in notepad. But I do most of my exercises for this learning track in notepad, unless it's an actual project. For that, I switch over to VS Code.

At least use Notepad++, breh. :mjlol:

Oh if you want "simple", I'll invite you to use vim and emacs. :lolbron:
