Completely agree, especially the recession of education system. We already take years to do nonsense degrees just to get a certificate. It’s a business not actual learning. Not like an apprenticeship or trade, which I believe it will go back to.

I’m not here for a long time, just a good time!

What's interesting is that the STEM fields used to be the least racist job markets in society. Scientists, engineers, astronauts, etc. didn't give a shyt if you were black, gay, Muslim, or a woman. Now with the rise of Trump I'm starting to notice some of these supposedly smart people adopting far-right wing tendencies. It's usually young white males in their 20s. The whole white victimization propaganda spearheaded by Fox News and alt-right personalities are starting to seep into these people's minds.

Somewhat controversial opinion but I think this aggressive campaign to get everybody into coding was created by billionaires and multinational corporations. When their companies move towards automation they can hire less humans and save money. Imagine being the CEO of a billion-dollar eCommerce giant and 1% of your work force is humans while the rest are just robots?
The biggest problem is that the tech industry is just bs. half of these companies are just making dumb shyt no one wants, and the other half are just throwing v.c money hoping the old school companies die out before they are actually forced to turn a profit.

If I see one more startup pretend that it is going to "revolutionize the way you hire people" I will scream. All these fancy ivy league algos and the best way to get a job is still "know someone on this inside"

I just wrapped up an assessment for one of the big boys. I didn't prepare at all this time around, but my code passed all the test cases. Pro tip: remove or comment out your print statements because they'll slow down execution time. You might have perfect code but fail tests on that premise. Half of me hopes I move on, the other half doesn't. If I get to an onsite and then get an offer in hand, it'll hurt real bad to make a decision if it's better than what my company and I just agreed on. I'll be burning the hell out of some bridges :pachaha:

Anybody get a job doing html emails? I am trying to go that route thinking it could be the easier route to getting into the industry and just work my way up from there.

One of the guys says that's what attracts millianials to those startups, they want to believe they are doing something that has real impact. Imagine using your talent on some foolery.

That blatant racism in #9

But i agree with what he’s saying to a point and thats why i switched my major to something thats CS related but doesnt require me to learn some calc 2 just to be pumping out Python codes

to counter point a lil there’s other majors thats worse off than CS already and its not getting any better (Law, History etc)
Dude talks about how CS grads are unprepared, yet uses class time for a personal tirade
I think he’s lowkey fear mongering

I ain't gonna lie, he had me at the first portion. He grossly underestimates education. there is no bubble to even burst. We barely have enough educators that want to teach CS, my professors don't get paid much more than regular HS teachers. When the govt sets the wrongs of education, best to believe I know where to go when shyt pops off.

No one is gonna hire a rando indian staffing agency on products that aren't approaching legacy age, even if it's cheap. They rather hire someone they went to school with no programming experience.

8 - 10, turned into racist rambles real quick.

I can see wages going down for some entry positions (once this happens, the supply down), and a lot of pointless startups flopping. With Senior positions, still left unfilled because of the bad retention of rate of SE.

Can you go more into detail about the job? I've seen a YouTuber also mention it as a good position to get your foot in the door :ohhh:
