That's gotta be a throwback...
Great post!
Though I spend most of my time in the produce isle, when I have to get an item not located in that area, I'm usually that girl in the isle who stops to read the labels on the food. Labels can be deceptive. I generally pick items with the least ingredients and with ingredients that I can actually pronounce and associate with real food.
I think good health is a personal responsibility; don't wait around for the food industry, as they make money off feeding you crap. Don't depend on Big Pharma to create a drug to keep you healthy, as their primary focus is to make and keep you functioning, but not to cure you. Don't depend on the FDA to ensure quality food or medicines are being given to the masses, as they have corporate interests they serve.
Being proactive will go a long in improving your health and well-being.
I think it boils down to a wealth/education issue rather than black and white.
I also recently noticed that bus stops in the "hood" have alcohol advertisements.
I could have sworn that was illegal?
what's illegal?
Publicly advertising alcohol?
On Govt and state owned agencies?
Sort of like tobaco ?
I mean, its just obvious by the selection of food in hood stores/gas stations that we're fed the wrong shyt
gas stations? really?
they sell what sells. junk food and flavored cigars
nah breh, I ain't going to citgo or some shyt
I'm talking sunoco, bp or exxon where they have the cvs type of set up lol
it's still the same shyt. it's a place you go for some snacks and shyt. it's a gas station. you get some gas, and grab a soda and a candy bar. it ain't the place to shop for groceries. neither is cvs/walgreens for that matter
it ain't like gas stations in 'nice' neighborhoods got better food
