Sad thing is they're giving away money because for one FB hasn't even learned how to properly monetize its mobile app and snapchat hasn't made a dime, yet. The logical way to get ad money is making a person wait on the pic while showing an ad.

The fallacy in all this social networking stuff is they're all fads.

Snapchat turned down a 3 BILLION (yes with a B) buyout offer from Facebook. While many seem to think that was a good idea I'll admit that for that amount of money would make me consider selling out

ARTICLE LINK

Man I seriously need to get in the APP hustle....Who the fukkkk turns down $3B over this stupid app? :wtf: I'd be fighting my pocket to get my pen out......I couldn't sign the papers fast enough. Snapchat's worthless, and I'd feel pressure to get out before everyone woke up and realized it. .. I have a feeling those Snpchat geeksters are going to REGRET not :handshake: this deal!

Ida probably accidentally torn the paper trying to sign it so fast:heh:

Well, twitter turned down a purchase from fb not too long ago and they seem to be doing ok. :manny:

Cause twitter had its own lane and submitting to FB is laughable.

Snapchat is in a lane already dominated by instagram.

They didn't turn it down thinking they can get more. Get more from WHO? Nobody else has the capital to offer anything sniffing 3 billion dollars.

Only logical conclusion is they turned it down thinking they can become a Facebook/twitter type powerhouse, which IMO is idiotic.

Twitter is different its the only type of social app of its kind...Snapchat is another 'PHOTO app' I can't think of any job in the world that I'd be unwilling to give up for $3 billion (or, more appropriately, a percentage of $3 billion, as Snapchat has numerous owners and investors). The potential for failure is enormous for internet companies, and if you don't cash out when the opportunity arrives, you're much more likely to wind up as another MySpace than another Zuckerberg.

they will prolly kick there own asses after a while for turning it down.

^^^ THIS X 100 in about 6-12 months.

Any given app is inherently worthless. You are the plaything of fickle teenagers, and your relevance is based on their fleeting tastes. ...if someone wants to buy your worthless product for an amount that you and your friends can retire for life and do what the FUKKKKK you want on some Richie rich shyte, you DO it :birdman:

I guess A billion dollars isn't cool anymore. You know what's cool? A trillion dollars :pachaha:

LOL...I remember readin about that...also Groupon turned down $6 Billion(From Google I think) thinking they make it bigger with their IPO... then the founders pocked most of their IPO money instead of reinvesting it back into the company - now they are struggling to survive....CACS gon Cock up business deals I guess :yeshrug:

The part I'm not getting here.....is Unless there's much more to this SNAPCHAT hypye...at first glance it looks like something that Facebook would be able to create in-house with a few interns on their lunch hour. What's the value of a company with so little name recognition and a product that's not difficult to knock-off? Why would Facebook want them at any price? :mindblown: & apparently Facebook already has a Snapchat clone called Poke. No one uses it, ever.....

The article says that they have plans on monetizing the app with "in app purchases". They mentioned a Chinese app that makes like $11M (yes Million) a month with in app purchases like "digital stickers" :what: and things like that. It's incredible what app users will pay for. :aicmon:

If it were me, I woulda sold the app for the $3Billion because like someone mentioned in this thread, all these social networking sites are basically fads and after a while nobody will care about their app.

I am not a passionate tech dude but it is a nice get rich quick for those who have the skills to create these things.
