me & @Art Barr are nothing alike, aside from the fact that we both son you routinely.

ive never even seen you interact with the bul, but the way youre bringing his name up and not tagging him, I can tell that he smacks you around.

really? so what do you call this?

and this isn't the first time you did that in this thread alone. YOU DO THIS ALL THE TIME!!!!

Neither of you have sonned me.

Telling you to take your own advice isn't rehashing what you say. Maybe you need to look up the definition of rehash.

None of this has anything to do with anything.

Neither of you have sonned me. In regard to Art Barr, unlike you, I respect his opinion even if I don't agree with everything he posts. The other difference is his posts contain some semblance of history and real historical/cultural commentary to back what he's posting. It comes off authentic vs. a poser attempting to be a historian and cultural authority. You post an opinion and when you're challenged on it, there isn't anything substantial to back the opinion. And when you don't have anything to offer, you hurl insults and use the signature "you weren't there" or "go outside". And where you try to mimic Art Barr, is you attempt to offer historical/cultural commentary, but it's all based on your personal opinion and perception vs. what really happened. There's a difference between being authentic and spraying cologne on BS hoping the fragrance will disguise the stink.

Telling you to take your own advice isn't rehashing what you say. Maybe you need to look up the definition of rehash.

None of this has anything to do with anything.

money cash hoez gotta be one of the corniest beats ever. When you got jay-z and dmx on a track any beat will work well.

Now the blackout with those two and lox sounds 10 times better, you can play that shyt in 2018 and still sounds fresh

Why do the worst threads get stickeyed. Who's doing this all the time. I thought stickied threads should be current trends/topics?

Coli's going downhill

That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Eve’s album brought up on here.

that's because most of this board is sexist.

see, look at the post below.

I have never heard eves album and can tell you now that it will not be better musically than murda muzik

:picard:
There was hysteria around the bootlegs...Quiet Storm the OG was an instant classic and the Remix did numbers.
Then the album actually sold. :russ:
How were they not killing it like that?

well they were 3 years removed from back-to-back classics.

long-awaited follow-up, particularly with their longtime fans.. of course they were gonna make a dent, but they weren't killin it.

ruff ryders were killin it. jay-z was killin it. Nas was killin til nastradamus dropped. cash money/no limit was killin it.
mob deep weren't on that level. they did their thing, but they weren't killin the game. im not saying they were washed. they did their thing. but certain terms are reserved for certain artists.

FOMF was markedly worse compared to IDAHIH though...in all respects.
Hell on Earth was arguably better than Infamous in certain respects (P somehow became better on HOE on the mic).

only thing better about HOE was prodigy stepped his bars up.

even then, his verses overall were still better on infamous.

FOMF wasn't as good as IDAHIH but it was a completely different album. completely different feel.

Run DMC completely changed their image for Down With the King :francis:
Hav updated his production style from what it was on HOE, which itself was an update from what he was doing on Infamous.
But otherwise it was the same old Mobb.
Not to mention that Run DMC in 93 were coming back from being irrelevant. Mobb was hotly anticipated and had the highest levels of respect for their musical integrity. :wow:
Then they dropped that record with 112 in 2001:mjcry:

but "down with the king" was bigger & better than quiet storm/remix.

I see what youre saying about different circumstances upon release tho. so instead of "down with the king", we can go with "tougher than leather".

I don't think Swizz bodied Timb I just think Swizz has the right beats for that type of setting(club atmosphere) so people rather be hype and Swizz thrives making those beats. Only producer giving Swizz a direct kill shot in this type of setting is Mannie Fresh.

that's because most of this board is sexist.

Excuses.

Lauryn Hill gets respect on here. As does Da Brat, Mia X, Queen Latifah, and MC Lyte. Foxy and Kim had appreciation threads. There was just a Lady of Rage thread the other day. I've seen appreciation threads for Missy's music on here.

Eve, IMO, is a dope MC who made middling music. She could hold her own in a cypher and had a crazy delivery. Album wise and song wise, none of it is really here or there to where it would warrant a discussion. That and the fact that people now dismiss Eve for her personal life choices and current status as a TV personality. I don't necessarily agree with people dismissing her for either because it has nothing to do with the music or her opinions on Hip Hop.

And if you want to use the sexist argument, then you ain't really as Hip Hop as you say you are. You should know the deal when it comes to females and Hip Hop. A lot of them don't get respect because in most cases, it's assumed they don't write. That and they couldn't escape the shadow of the men who put them on.

right on time.

the nerd that always comes out the blue with smilies & one-liners.

you lames and your exceptional mentality kill me. YOU are a rap NERD. IF YOU COME ON HERE PERIOD.

stop it. It's cool to nerd out about something you like, like music. Embrace it. Otherwise you wouldn't have started this conversation... Stop pretending you are gracing us with your presence like you are above us.

Swizz won this battle for the same reason he won the Just Battle. Showmanship. He got the energy and his songs get to the point in 1-2 bars they are not building up slowly. His simple beats are perfect for that arena. Doesn't mean he's a better producer. Just like a smack dvd rapper wasn't gonna deliver a classic album but could kill it on stage..

How?
What made them borderline old school?

changing of the guard.
and everything about them was mid-90s. we in the late '90s/early '00s now.
young bucks coming up in high school weren't looking up to no mob deep breh. and the young buls in middle school could've cared less about them.

their whole style was old school too. their flows
cant really be marveled at mob deep, when you got people like the LOX, beans, figgas, big pun, jigga, sauce money, etc killin chit. meanwhile, heres mob deep with these baby bars in comparison, not much sauce in their music anymore, plus prodigy flow was Nyquil status at this point.

So are we talking quality? Since you say MOP was better...or are we talking about who was a contender?
I don't think MOP ever even went gold. And they were on the same label starting with Warriorz.

im not saying MOP was better.

im just saying they did a better job at transferring over into the new millennium.

did it ever occur to you that swizz joints are simply more popular than timbaland's?
even if they did this battle with neither producer being present, it would've had the same results.
yall gotta stop using excuses, and get in touch with reality. and then when reality hits you, don't resist it.
I didn't watch the just blaze battle, but his catalog isn't as popular as swizz' neither.

I didn't call you a rap nerd.
I called you a nerd.
big difference. and im sure you know that.

lauryn hill is backpack/neo-soul.

the rest of them don't really get their props on here. some of those names get brushed off.

just because somebody gets a random appreciation thread once in a blue moon, it doesn't mean they really get love on this board like that. youre such a simpletone.

but Eve did write most of her chit. so what'chu sayin?
