It is more of an indictment on the Academy than it is on DiCaprio that Mira Sorvino, Halle Berry, Roberto Benigni, and Gwyneth Paltrow have Oscars while he doesn't.
He should have won for Gilbert Grape especially when you consider the winner of the supporting Oscar that year was Tommy Lee Jones for the fukking Fugitive.

I'll give you Berry. (She sucks) But the two bold were very good actresses at one point. Paltrow got replaced by ScarJo and And Keira Knightley and Sorvino has a bad attitude

I think because he does not play the games, he hangs out, drinks, smokes and bangs tons of females, i think he may banged an academy members wife or girl, he works when he wants to, gets good roles without trying, he makes it seem easy, you know how many guys in LA must hate on him? That is true, but they were pushed like crazy, how many blockbusters did Orlando Bloom get before he fell off, same with Josh. I mean look at the guy who plays Vince on Entourage, people on used to say he was going to blow because of that show, him and Leo are about the same age and this guy has done zip since that show, not a guess appearance on Boardwalk empire, Girls, GOT, or anything, to be good in hollywood you have to know how to act or kiss ass like these dudes did.

Why is Leonardo DiCaprio so continually overlooked by the Academy when it comes to his versatile and brilliant performances?

RRevolutionary Road – alright, it was a boring movie that was far more of a showcase for Kate Winslet than it was for him, and by and large, it was overlooked by everyone, not just by the Academy. J. Edgar – also a weak movie that had Leo hamming it up more than ‘acting’.

However, his performances in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Titanic, The Departed, Blood Diamond, and Catch Me If You Can are all brilliant and as definitive as the movies that they’re showcased in. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape was one of DiCaprio’s earlier movies, and he manages the difficult task of pulling off a mentally retarded youth without being insulting or over-the-top. Titanic, famous for launching DiCaprio into the stratosphere, didn’t even net him a nomination, although his co-star Kate Winslet ended up getting a nomination. The Departed and Blood Diamond both came out in the same year so the Academy could hardly deny Leo a nomination, but alas, they denied him the trophy yet again. Catch Me If You Can was snubbed by the Academy for almost all of its categories, apart from Best Supporting Actor.

So why has Leo been overlooked all these years? Those who say he doesn’t deserve it have clearly not been watching his movies. But it’s true that while Leo has been overlooked, many of his co-stars in his film have managed to net Oscar wins – most notably Kate Winslet. So that really comes down to this – the Academy doesn’t seem to think it’s Leo’s time yet. The fact that Leo also refuses to show up during the years he’s not nominated a sign of protest [as he did during Titanic’s nominations, and once again during Kate Winslet’s win] could just be another reason why the Academy refuses to give him his statue.

I know you guys like to build up like he's the 2013 De Niro but he just isn't that good.

He's got plenty of solid 8/10 performances but I've yet to see that one next level mind blowing performance.

I was expecting him to knock out a classic scene stealing performance in Django and Sam Jackson blew him out of the water.
