Having just completed Persona 5 Royal I feel like the antagonist of that game has a compelling case for the best villain this gen. I’ve never had that level of an experience where I fought a final boss and knew with certainty that they weren’t wrong. They genuinely wanted what was best for everyone and fought to achieve that and even though the party rejected those wishes they weren’t wrong.

That and their music was dope
