How is it not Hank Aaron. nikkas need to go back at look at his stats. This dude hit at least 40 homers in 3 different decades, and you know he wasnt on steroids like Barry.

Yall can say Babe Ruth,Ted,Barry,Willie,Hank and give all these stats. In order to be a TRUE GOAT. You have to have power and influece decades later. If it werent for JACKIE ROBINSON there would be no Barry or Hank. LOL at having your jersey retired and not being mentioned as GOAT,the guy was an exceptional athlete. Jackie Robinson....F stats.Give me influence. That man went thru twice the stuff Hank went thru.

It's Bonds / Ruth / Mays / Williams in some order. Integration or no integration, Ruth would feast in any era. Some of those other old timers (Cobb, Wagner, etc), I'm no so sure.

As far as players we grew up with, it's Bonds, Griffey, ARod, Jeter and ya boy CHIPPER JONES rounding out the top 5...

49...............

OK, I only got to 48. But I steered away from guys like Old Hoss Radbourn, Tim Keefe, Kid Nichols and Eddie Plank :manny:

Nolan Ryan is probably the most single overrated played in the history of baseball. IMO. He was a very good player, but he was much more a freak of nature for his ability to stay healthy than for being a truly GREAT pitcher. Sure, the strikeouts and the no-nos are great...but he's also the ALL-TIME leader in walks. By a fukking MILE. Seriously, he 52% more walks than #2 on the list :merchant:

Props on posting 50 pos rep but I don't agree. I think Nolan Ryans longevity and constancy put him well above many on the list. I feel some of the players haven't had a chance to prove themselves to be as good a pitcher but do have a chance before their career is over for example CC Sabathia. I also feel some of those old timer pitchers were not on the same level of play. Either way that was a good list of great pitchers but there is not reason that Nolan Ryan is not on that list. Whether he was a freak or not, the ability to pitch without getting injured is a skill. Also I would not put known steroid users on my list of top pitchers (Clemens)
