So We Really Gotta Get A 5th String QB Huh....2023 49ers Offseason Thread

We don't NEED an elite group of WRs when we have two very good WRs, both of which can line up anywhere on the field as well as an ELITE running back who can line up anywhere and an ELITE TE who can do multiple things.

We have all the playmakers you need to be a top scoring offense and when Purdy was back there we were averaging like 34 points a game.

We have a top 5 WR unit in the NFL and that is taking into account Deebo's off year last year. Both starters run sub 4.5 times and we have a 6'3 215 3rd and down safety valve. Hell we got a guy that runs a 4.3 and he might not even see the field. We are actually spoiled at WR in terms of depth.

Jimmy was definitely underappreciated, but I don't think it's the same. For one, the offense didn't look the same with Purdy, I get that yes the underneath was still there, but Shanny was pulling plays out of his funky ass that he didn't do before. Also Purdy was really good at avoiding sacks. This is HUGE because he kept the plays alive and had less 3 and outs. Jimmy on the other hand will just take the sack.

So I agree that stat wise they were similar, but not play wise. He definitely had a huge point in saying the defense was balling out of control. But main reason was because bum ass Jimmy Ward had his spot taken. Secondary looked light years better without him at top. It will I dare say will be elite this season without him. Steve Wilks specialty is DBs. I'm expecting a lot of turnovers with this defense this season. It's down right scary with the depth they have.

Purdy does several things better than Jimmy Garapollo Purdy is a better athlete, has better pocket presence and footwork and thus can avoid sacks. More decisive throwing the football and lowkey he hits receivers in the breadbasket or in stride where they can maximize their YAC especially with George Kittle.

Granted training camp hasn't started yet but still its actually refreshing that it has been uneventful thus far.

There are rumblings that Mason may be in the mix for the #2 RB over Elijah Mitchell.

Price is def a bubble player. Mitchell I think will make the roster he is just too dynamic, we just need to keep him to 10 carries.

The Raiders were very smart to put that clause in. If he can't pass the physical with that foot they can cut with no money owed. They should definitely do that.

He's cheap to keep no doubt, but if Khalan Laborn shows out than I can see them moving on. Mitchell is always hurt. He's actually hurt right now.
