We traded up to address the secondary with our first pick, and the only OL/Edge player drafted since that pick was Wanya Morris. I'm not seeing who we massively missed on. We have one of the best rosters in the league, we don't have a ton of gaping holes.
We already trade for a kicker and in the third round Darius Rush and Jaylen Duncan we’re still both available. With the injuries we have every year on d-line and secondary having more depth there makes so much sense, look at what the eagles did. What about o-line our right tackle spot is very suspect do you expect this oline to hold up against the eagles because I don’t.

A kicker in the fifth or sixth makes sense but the third is a terrible decision. Hell a running back is better than a kicker. Let’s say he is a great kicker and let’s say Darius rush or Jayson Duncan become solid or above average starters at cb and ot respectively they already hold more value than a great kicker. If they become all pros then you really missed out. You can get a great kicker undrafted which makes this even worse.

The press conference was very telling because it looked as if Kyle was trying to talk himself into it while everyone was giving him and Lynch the :what: When asking them questions.

Moody would've been picked in the 4th :manny:

Ok, the patriots would have drafted him in the fourth and trading up for a kicker is even worse. Another team making a similar but slightly less egrigous mistake doesn’t make our mistake better.

You get it. You hit on kicker and then you realize you coulda had a free agent kicker for slightly more money without spending picks.

You hit on a Ringo or Breeland and you got a starting db or tackle for peanuts for years

It's not really panic, from my side its just frustration at how low upside these TE and K picks are. With how bad the cap is we need to hit as many picks as possible. These are crap picks for upside. That safety was a nice upside pick.

You also have to draft players who have a chance of making the roster

Darius Rush and Jaelyn Duncan are still undrafted heading into the 5th round. I see no reason to believe Duncan will be the answer to stopping the Eagles pass rush any more than McKivitz will be. We used (at least 2/3) our 3rd round picks on guys who will be Day 1 contributors. I agree with depth, but there was no slam dunk RT available in the 3rd round comp pick range.

We can't compare our draft to the Eagles because our pick this year went to Trey Lance and they got their franchise QB with a single 2nd round pick. :francis:

I'd rather have a great kicker than a replacement level CB. We picked Ambry Thomas in the 3rd round, I'd trade his production for an elite kicker like Justin Tucker's in a heartbeat. I agree with @yseJ criticism that you're more likely to find great undrafted kickers than great undrafted CB/OT, but that just depends on whether we believe Moody will be great.

I do agree Moody would’ve been gone.

So if he’s really the best kicker in the draft than so be it. I rather them draft the number one kicker than the number 8 or lower per say
Bro you don't even have to draft a kicker. Robbie was undrafted, Tucker undrafted. We went to two last sbs with undrafted kickers.

The last kicker drafted this high was a huge bust by the bucs.

Justin Tucker is one of a kind. If you get Justin Tucker sure its justified. But the odds are heavily against you. Theres a great chance he isn't even the best kicker of this class, and with how volatile kickers are he has as good a chance of being out of the league in two-three years as him becoming the next Robbie.

I hope I'm terribly wrong. I really do.

I just think draft talk is too much about shyt we literally have no fukking clue about. Upside, potential,, ceiling, etc. are all stuff that at this point in my fandom I don't see the point of taking as seriously. Specially when we have championship roster anyway.

I'm more inclined of doing this sort of over analysis when the team is rebuilding, but in our current situation? I'll care by Week 5-10 when we have a way more honest assessment at how we did in the draft.

I've read how bad we've done the draft ever since Lynch took over and except for one (maybe two? I don't remember), every season we end up being OK with how we did because we found at least two or three players worth a starting or top backup spot...and that's all you can hope for in a draft :yeshrug:
