I don't think these are good reasons to give McGlinchey the kind of money he's gonna be asking/getting. If this is a shytty year to get a replacement RT then I much rather sign a stop gap and aim to get someone better next season either in the draft or FA. My biggest fear with McGlinchey is giving him a long term deal that will cost us too much money. It might look OK in year 1 but year 2, 3, 4 we are gonna be :snoop: about what to do with him.

I think that's the problem. The overall quality of offensive linemen has dropped. Even now if you draft a guy it takes 2 to 3 years to get him to an NFL level and most teams will not let their tackles hit the market unless they are old, injury prone or the team is in cap trouble. Offensive line is not the worst position to invest in and honestly as a unit the offensive line has played well. Whether we like it or not Mike has all the leverage.

Other than the horrific NFCG against Von Miller, Compton has filled in decently last year and he was a backup T barely making money.

McGlinchey is not a good pass blocking tackle at all. A solid run-blocking backup Ts aren't expensive. I'd promote from within if needed. Swing Burford or Brunskill to T and see how they do. Even McKivitz maybe. He's also horrid in pass pro but decent in run blocking.

I would vote for McKivitz to start even if he has dinosaur arms. Assuming Mike Walks because I get the vibe the team likes McGlinchey at least to a certain dollar amount.

To be honest a lot of people make it sound a bigger deal than what it was.

It's just a very unlucky break. Purdy usually has been very good at feeling the pressure. This time he didn't see it at all coming from his right (so not his blind side) A ucl tear in that situation is also very unlucky. Most of the time it's just a bruise or nothing.

Football is a game of inches, Purdy let's it go a half second earlier and its never an issue
