I don't think these are good reasons to give McGlinchey the kind of money he's gonna be asking/getting. If this is a shytty year to get a replacement RT then I much rather sign a stop gap and aim to get someone better next season either in the draft or FA. My biggest fear with McGlinchey is giving him a long term deal that will cost us too much money. It might look OK in year 1 but year 2, 3, 4 we are gonna be about what to do with him.
I think that's the problem. The overall quality of offensive linemen has dropped. Even now if you draft a guy it takes 2 to 3 years to get him to an NFL level and most teams will not let their tackles hit the market unless they are old, injury prone or the team is in cap trouble. Offensive line is not the worst position to invest in and honestly as a unit the offensive line has played well. Whether we like it or not Mike has all the leverage.
