i hope you're right. but i dont believe any hockey fan that tells me that. 2 weeks into the season eveyrone will forget and be back to putting money in the owners' pocket.

why else do you think we have another lockout ? because the owners know that the fans will come back.

Word. Hockey fans are like soccer fans. Even in here in the NYC Metro area no fanbase is more loyal or hardcore than the Giants and Rangers. You can probably count on one hand the teams that will be hurt box office wise (Dallas, Nashville, Kings, Panthers come to mind).

They are the defending champs, they will definitely showing up for the banner raising and if they are a top team in the West, LA bandwagoners will stick around.

Max contract length proposed is 5 years.
Free Agency would begin at 28 years old and 8 years service (was 27 and 7)

Also, NHL contracts in the AHL will continue to count against the cap, so no more burying fat salaries.

I'm guessing for the players to agree to an increase in time it takes to get to UFA status the NHL has to end collusion with Restricted Free Agents. We'll see more tomorrow.

Is progress being made?

The opposite. That NHL proposal in reality was nothing but a way to get fan sentiment on their side. Word came out that the NHL the hired a focus group study of fan perception for lockouts. The NHLPA made 3 counterproposals and the NHL threw them all in the bushes. 50-50 seems like the landing point but it's how they get there and the players aren't gonna go for a deal unless the NHL honors all the contracts signed pre-lockout. If there's no deal within the next month there's probably gonna be no season.

:snoop:

Well, I said six teams at first, but that's prolly too many. ATL and Columbus should definitely be contracted, and move Florida to Saskatoon or some shyt.

ATL's in Winnepeg breh. Florida isn't going anywhere because of their lease. Phoenix is the big one but I think they're gonna end up in Seattle.

Funny thing is after a new CBA is reached they're probably gonna expand to 32 teams.

Man I hope not. I just hope Phx probably ends up in Seattle. Then there is the prospect of a Quebec squad maybe they can get Fla or the BlueJackets? I heard a rumor on the HFB that maybe the Islanders will start playing at the Barclay center in a few years

If Quebec gets a team it's gonna be via expansion. It's more beneficial to the League that way so they can :eat: of the expansion fee which is much higher than the relocation fee.
