But by the late 90s-2000s, Brandy had it locked. Monica doesn't have a "Full Moon". That album sets the standard going forward for vocal production in RnB thru today.

I always preferred Brandy over Monica in every way. That Brokenhearted song on that 1st album is still my favorite Brandy song. Monica has nothing touching that imo. I actually purchased Brandy's albums. Funny story my first baby mama's name is Brandy and then my ex-wife looked like Brandy when she was younger from the braids and the roundish face and same shaped eyes.
