How can this franchise be saved? Is it too late? Do we need ANOTHER reboot?

I have argued with nerds for years, but its going to be tough for Sony to top the first trilogy IMO. Sure that 3rd Toby movie sucked, but IMO it was better than the 2 recent ones and many critics agree with me. Peter played the nerd role better and the villains in the first trilogy are better than the new series.

I think Marvel needs to gain the rights back somehow and brew something for a long time and try again. These 2 movies are going to be forgotten...NO memorable moments that people are going to come back and be like

Special effects mean nothing if the movies suck.

In the first trilogy you at least had Dock Ock which was played perfectly. The Train fight and the fight at the end of Spider-Man 2 are memorable...its classic. Goblins were also good.

Nah, I feel like the original thread has too much negativity and this thread is about the franchise going forward...not just the 2nd film.

Like I said in the other thread, the director needs to go It's not all on him, but he appears to be out of his league in terms of creating that epic summer blockbuster.

But on the real, I think there is now a bit of 'Spider Man movie fatigue'. This is the third SM movie in a row that been questionable or hit or miss to most people. I think Raimi & company should've been given a chance to redeem themselves and finish off that series on a strong note....and then reboot 8-10 years later.

As long as the movie continues to make a profit, Sony aint giving up them rights unless Disney wants to cut the check.

Garfield is PERFECT as Spidey/Pete IMO. I don't think the second movie was that bad either (6.5-7 outta 10 ). I was cysed for the clocktower scene and it delivered IMO.

But other than that and the fight scenes, I can understand how cats think it wasn't that good.

The franchise fatigue is definitely there though. The only thing I think can possibly save the franchise is bringing in Carnage, but you'd have to do Venom first.

Movie will reach 650 milli worldwide at the box office with ease which should more than cover the budget and bring in a profit.

The rights aint goin nowhere unless Disney gonna cut that check or Sony Columbia aint making money on it, and it aint happening.

Fell asleep during the second one, smh. I was so hype for it. Captain America set the bar pretty high for superhero movies this year.

Thing is, I like Garfield as Spiderman. The movies just aren't great. The first one wasn't even that bad to me but they're not exciting and like you said, no memorable moments. As cheesy as it was, Toby and his trilogy had memorable moments even if you count that upside down kiss.

I actually like both. Edwardo played a dope Parker. Didn't have to be dark. It was an upgrade over those shytty Toby McGwire movies.

The thing with Marvel and the Avengers is they have cohesion and a long term mentality. Spiderman doesn't. You can only run so many before it gets stale and then you have to wash, rinse and reboot 8 years later.


The ONLY mistake Marvel is making at this point is not having characters show up in other movies. They don't want to make a Hulk sequel so why not put him in with Iron Man or Thor.

i think theyre using hulk as an attraction for teh avengers. he had the illest scenes in the 1st one, i ahve a feeling he will in 2 as well
