Side note @Los Pollos Hermanos "Breaking Bad" actually takes place in the same universe as "The Wire". So does "The X-Files".

Walk with me a sec.

Detective John Munch was a character on "Homicide: Life On The Street" who later made an appearance on "The Wire" in season 5, episode 7:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Took_(The_Wire)#Guest_stars

Notice the two appearances refer to the character as "John Munch". He's playing the same detective.

Later, on the "X-Files", look who pops up in season 5, episode 3:

Lastly, in "Breaking Bad" season 5, episode 7 Mike sends his lawyer to deposit money in Cradock Marine Bank:

In season 6, episode 14 of "The X-Files" Mulder goes to deposit his check at Cradock Marine Bank. If you're familiar with "The X-Files", this is the episode where the bank kept exploding:

Disturbingly, all the aforementioned shows share the same universe as "St. Elsewhere":

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Elsewhere#Allusions.2C_crossovers.2C_and_homages

Two St. Elsewhere characters were carried over to the NBC series Homicide: Life on the Street, which was executive produced by St. Elsewhere alumnus Tom Fontana. In an episode in season six entitled "Mercy," Alfre Woodard reprises her role of Dr. Roxanne Turner, who is accused of illegally euthanizing a cancer patient. Woodard was nominated for an Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance. In other Homicide episodes, the character of Detective Tim Bayliss (played by Kyle Secor) develops a bad back and is treated by an offscreen "Dr. Ehrlich." In the Homicide: The Movie finale, Ed Begley, Jr., makes an uncredited appearance as Dr. Victor Ehrlich.

If you're familiar with the end of "St. Elsewhere" you'll understand why this is troubling.

Mncutty is a detective, Hank is an Assistant Special Agent of DEA, which is more power over the detective.

Mncuty wouldn't have caught Walt that easily because he doesn't know what he looks like, wonder who Heisenberg is?.

In the Wire, he already know who Marlo crew are and Avon crew are, already know what they looks like and he still have a hard time to break them down, etc. while Hank was having a hard time to find Heisenberg, etc And they didn't even know the Greek in the Wire. I doubt it that they would caught Gus, etc

They started off season one of The Wire WITHOUT knowing what Avon Barksdales looked like..... and look how well that unfolded for the Barksdale organization.

Probably equal to Gus.... Enough to pay off politicians and so forth.

I don't think it was as equal to Gus'. Didn't they estimate Avon's to be around 30 million in season 1?

I don't remember the exact numbers but I doubt Avon was anywhere near Gus.

Avon was a street level boss, Gus had enough cheese to build an $8 mill lab just to break ties with the cartels.
The Greek was more on Gus's level in terms of power/money. Even then :patrice:I dunno. Gus was on another level. He had direct ties to the Mexican cartels and partners in Madrigal Electromotive,
a massive global corporation.

I doubt "The Wire" cops would get anywhere near Gus like they did The Greek though. And if they did it would be a nightmare, because you know Gus would be all in pictures with Rawls, Daniels, Burrell, etc. Probably at the Baltimore PD Christmas parties cheesing with McNulty and Bunk, too.

shyt....now that I think about it there's no way in hell Avon was on Gus's level. Gus (and later Walt) had the resources to fly dope to the Czech Republic. When the towers fell Avon and his people were scrambling to find corners to sell on.

The Greek was on the level of the cartels. Gus was making millions but he still had to deal with them for their major cut until he made his revenge. Plus, Avon was based on the real lives of Nathan Barksdales and Melvin Williams who played The Deacon on the show. Those ex-drug lords had close to a net worth of 100 million. Just like with Gus, Avon had SEVERAL fronts too as well as controlling both housing projects on some Nino Brown shyt. Not to mention the political connects which Lester were obsessed with because lord knows how much $$$$$ Avon was channeling.

He had enough to hold his own family and his peoples WHILE in prison for several YEARS until that well finally ended up dry.I can safely assuming during his peak years he and Gus were even. The GREEK was on some OTHER level.

Gus was arguably a billionaire (or would've been) He also had a private jet, gave the cartel 50 mil, had countless employees, as well as doctors, lawyers, chemist, and even politicans. Not to mention the restaurants. Plus, you to calculate how much he was making when he was with Gale/Walt.

Just Google "Gus Fring net worth."

Not to mention he needed Marlo to give his sister $100,000 in S5. And in S4, they stopped paying Wee-Bey, I believe. In short, Gus was on a international level and Avon was not.
