Rhythm and flow comes from rnb and funk, since nobody outside of black people listen to it, they miss out on a key element of balance. double time is used to keep all non black rappers "on beat". :mjlol:
Black rappers of recent times need it too...

I've been saying that regarding the dominance of trap/drill...the beats pretty much force you to use double time to sound like you belong. People think flows got better with the fall of the East Coast/rise of the South when really the beats shifted to a syncopated tempo that encourages/enforces a uniform flow from rappers in general.

I was just listening to his interview on Sway in the morning. Breh started asking for NY beats and Big L beats. Soon as that shyt dropped he couldn’t even stay on beat. :mjlol: Hittem with 2 Premier beats back to back and he was confused. Turned on a Wu beat and he asked for something else. Sway was like Nah. :skip:



I give him credit he was definitely trying, but he was all off beat.
