If you're interested in reading horror/weird ficion, but are new to it start with the short story collections. That way you don't have a 800-1000 page investment.

"Skeleton Crew" and "The Night Shift" are Stephen King's best short story collections. Also read Clive Barker's "The Books Of Blood". There's 6 parts to it which seems like a lot but each volume has 4-6 stories. Both of those guys were running shyt back then.

Fred.
I liked "Four Seasons" more but it was also the first stephen king book/collection I read. That one Shawshank is based on is still one of my favorite storys ever.

I'm partial to "Skeleton Crew" in particular because I read "The Mist" when I was in like 3rd grade. Also when I was a kid there was a low budget adaptation of "The Boogeyman" from "The Night Shift" which kinda blew my mind. I dunno if you're familiar with the story but it's a great concept, even with a terrible budget.

Sounds like The director and studio had a falling out more than anything. Seems it was only given the green light because of him, now that he's out there's no point of it.

I wouldn't be surprised, he was beefing with Nic Pizzolatto during "True Detective" too. I think he has a very specific vision and doesn't like feed back.

From what I read what he envisioned required a budget that New Line wasn't prepared to give him. His drafts also went over-budget. Plus the actor who was also cast at Pennywise wasn't even who he wanted and I remember reading that he said he had a specific and "perfect" actor in mind, but New Line weren't going to cough up the dough for the actor(Ben Mendleson). He didn't want to compromise over the budget and locations so said "fukk it" and left.

I figured it was something like that.

IT was top 3 scariest movie I ever saw

But nobody wants a shitty remake .. It only destroys the franchise.

They're better off waiting until it can be done right than putting out a flop to chase imaginary dollars

Figures. Someone finally starts talking about a remake that I'm into and it's not happening.

At least I'll still have multiple versions of Ghostbusters and Point fukking Break to watch instead :scusthov:

ben mendohlson as pennywise would have been inspired casting.

on the real, i think if bob shaye was still in charge, this movie gets made and with the director's original vision...there's no way the execs in charge now would ever have fought and spend their "own" money to get ANOES made like shaye did.

damn shame this isn't getting made though, I was looking forward to seeing a true adaption of the novel over two dark films.

Night Shift and Skeleton Crew are neck and neck to me. Night Shift maybe a bit more I had read it back in like 5th grade after my older cousin left the book at my house. The Boogeyman Man was my favorite story. I never saw that Boogeyman adaptation at least I don't think I have.
