So the hipsters at Pitchfork gave the new Liquid Swords Deluxe Edition a perfect 10

well. I mean, I would take pitchfork more seriously than e.g. the grammys when it comes to rap

I don't think they're inauthentic, the problem is they have an aesthetic and an attitude towards new rap music that's completely annoying to me... they basically overrate the Gucci Manes and Waka Flockas of the world on one end and overrate the Action Bronsons and Lil Bs on the other. What happened to just rating normal rappers highly?

so you're right, it's good to have people who just shoot from the hip about what they think

I just disagree with their whole conception of what's good or what's not when it comes to hip hop

and--here's the thing--pitchfork has been annoying the fukk out of people forever in every genre. Being edgy and holier-than-thou is just their style. So that plays into it too

:what: wtf are you talking about

lil b and bronson are polar opposites.....

:wtf:

anyone who needs Pitchfork to tell them LS is a perfect album shouldnt be listening to it in the first place. Yeah i know the hipsters have been the ones keeping Wu-Tangs name relevent for the last 10+ years but I still cant stand those fukkin herbs.

just noticed they left Swordsman off of the instrumental album. :( I wonder why.

Can someone who has confirm that? That's how it's listed on Amazon.

Sadly true. my instrumental disc has Liquid Swords, Duel of the Iron Mic, Living in the World, GOld, Cold World, Labels, 4th chamber, Shadowboxing', Killah Hills, Investigative Reports, and I Gotcha back.

Im mad about it too cause its one of my favorite songs on the LP.

as good as BIBLE is, it's not seeing 80% of the rest of the album.

Plus it was obviously tacked on at the end. It's the only track without RZA production, it's at the end of the album, and technically GZA is a feature and not the main rapper. The slightly different version on Heavy Mental is much better, and let's be honest, that's where it belongs, though I never skip it and I don't think it takes away from LS.

that's how it is on the official instrumental lp too. i have the official vinyl that was released when liquid swords originally came out. those are the same tracks that are on it too. just curious to hear it remastered though.

and who the f*ck actually listens to reviews nowadays. they're just glorified opinions. i don't need pitchfolk to tell me liquid swords is a dope cd. i knew that about 12, 11 years ago when i heard liquid swords for the first time. it was dope back then and still dope now. i remember duel of the iron mic playing in my head back when i was walking to school during the start of second semester of my freshman year of high school. it was the wintertime too so that even made everything more crazier. i still remember when i copped liquid swords and return to the 36 chambers back in 1/12/01 and my face flushing with fear when i heard swordman on my brother's old laptop. that's how serious that sh!t was.

The amount of forced detail they put into their reviews pains me .

It's like someone repeatedly slapping a Merriam-Webster thesaurus across your face when you have a migraine.

It's not necessary to overcomplicate things.

that's what makes me wonder if they really have the master multi track reels. I know when ODB's album was re-released it had instrumentals on it but they weren't from master reels. They were vinyl rips that were remastered and put on cd. I forget the company that did it.

Maybe RZA just has swordsman directly recorded to DAT and they couldn't get it. I know he was doing that with songs at the time. I remember Bring the Pain was straight to DAT.

Thanks for the answers.
