I'm nowhere close to being a star wars fan, and even I know Star wars will either crush the buildings with Avatar in it, or Avatar will be forced to lean back. Avatar won't win.

The 3d aspect of Avatar is what made it unigue. The effects are still better than any comic book flick so I don't agree with the u on that one. The fact he filmed it in 3d and it was so beautiful to see on the big screen is what made it an event. You're forgetting that. Thats why peeps went and seen it over again cuz it looked so fukking cool. The sequels are gonna have a lot of underwater scenes, you know that shyts gonna looking fukking ridiculous.
Yea, but it's 2016 now. That 3D shyt isn't as fresh as it was when Avatar came out in 2009. How many great looking films have come out since then? A ton.

Life of Pi
Dredd
Mad Max
Star Wars 7
The Winter Soldier
Age of Ultron
GOTG
Jurassic World
Tron
Gravity
Interstellar
Inception
Prometheus

Avatar was ahead of it's time, but now it's just another IMAX blockbuster with an oversized budget. JC better make that sequel as good as Aliens if he wants to do numbers like the first one cause the story was trash.

Nope. Episode 8 was originally gonna drop may 2017. They just now changed it to December where as all of the avatar sequels were gonna drop mid December just like the first one.
No i meant the following year, ep 9 was already gonna drop in december 2018, so was avatar 3. They were already going up againt avatar one year, why not make it two? To be honest star wars shoulda went for black friday open..

Never doubt James Cameron. The man still has the top 2 spots IIRC and 3 out of the top 4.

Most of those films didn't look that great bruh..JW? That cgi was good at best. Age of Ultron? Cgi looked corny in many scenes...Gravity and Prometheus looked dope though..but Cameron created an entire planet bruh...it's on a way more massive scale than the flms u mentioned, it's not even close. And he knows the story line was basic, he won't admit it but that's why he has hired a team of writers this go around. You underestimate him.

I'm not necessarily underestimating him, I'm just underestimating the amount of Avatar fans out there in the world that are hyped to see a sequel. Mind you we haven't seen a trailer yet and that might change things if the story is vastly superior to the first one. Like I said before though, he made Aliens, so if he can do a sequel on that level of greatness then Avatar 2 might hold its own against SW 8. We'll see.

And T2. Star Wars is of course a juggernaut, but Cameron is the last nikka to be fukked with in Hollywood, box-office wise. Avatar still has almost double SW:TFA's overseas gross.

Yeah he needs to have a far superior product like Aliens and T2. I would be very disappointed if he didn't exceed his own expectations. And obviously SW is the new king of the hill. And will be for the next several years until maybe people get burned out on it. Avatars main mistake imo, besides the cliche storyline, was that he didn't create unique and memorable characters. Pandora is the main reason people will return to see the sequels. All that effort in making those effects and beautiful scenery is the reason it was so successful. So we will see if he creates the sequel that will be on par with Aliens and T2. That will be beyond hard af but if anyone can do it, he can.

Yea you're def right about the weak characters. Weaver being in it only made me want to watch Alien/Aliens. Zoe was really the only memorable character. I don't even remember Sam Worthington's character's name. Just that he couldn't walk.

So the military guy wasn't a good villain :mjpls:
Not really. The fact that they took his character straight from the Black military guy in Aliens and then recycled his exact same character again on that tv show Terra Nova made him pretty forgettable. Also, that one line "eat your eyes for jujubees" was cringe worthy. The final fight he had with Sam was bad ass though.
