North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Only reason why Avatar broke those records is cause it was new and no one knew what it was gonna be. Now that we know it was one of the most overrated movies ever, I doubt the same numbers of people are gonna go rushing to see the sequel.

Whereas the cliffhanger left in TFA will have everyone rushing to see SW8 first weekend.

Just my opinion though.

The distance between the first 1 plus the fact that nobody knows what the plot will be about will generate interest. And a lot of people saw it multiple times so stop with the overrated talk. People will go for the special effects experience alone.

Yeah its hard to imagine it being as big as the first but Cameron knows this. He knows he can't just regurgitate the same shyt.

"You have to challenge yourself. Obviously, expectations are going to be very high on these films, especially on Avatar 2, to make sure it wasn't just some big fluke the first time," he told Entertainment Weekly in a phone interview. "So we've got to deliver. I've created a nice rod for my own back, so they say," the director added.

That doesn't mean its gonna make as much as the first one. Star Wars 8 is gonna be the bigger movie. It's still fresh in peoples minds and they wanna see Luke. And you can see Avatar level special effects now in just about any blockbuster/comic book movie, so miss me with that.

right!! there would literally be no other movies showing except those 2
I'm speaking in terms of having enough IMAX screens for both movies to eat the way the first films did.You don't have to be a genius to understand how basic math works.

The 3d aspect of Avatar is what made it unigue. The effects are still better than any comic book flick so I don't agree with the u on that one. The fact he filmed it in 3d and it was so beautiful to see on the big screen is what made it an event. You're forgetting that. Thats why peeps went and seen it over again cuz it looked so fukking cool. The sequels are gonna have a lot of underwater scenes, you know that shyts gonna looking fukking ridiculous.

Is Cameron even filming Avatar 2 already or is he still underwater diving? Regardless, I would never underestimate James Cameron because that man's success is beyond comprehension.
He hasn't started filming yet. Last I read he has completed all the sets and creatures etc. They start filming sometime this year. The story line is still in the works.
