Star Wars just moved their date though. From May to December. All of the Avatar sequel dates have been set in stone and they all drop in December. They not gonna move them now. They would have to push them all back.
Ehich also means episode 9 was planned to drop same week or week before as avatar 3, correct?

RIP Star Wars (if Avatar 2 doesn't change dates). Underestimating James Cameron is retard-status at this point.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Nope. Episode 8 was originally gonna drop may 2017. They just now changed it to December where as all of the avatar sequels were gonna drop mid December just like the first one.

They trying to drop all 3 on Christmas back to back to back years. Of course it wasn't finalized because theyre shooting all 3 back to back to back which takes time. But once complete all 3 dates won't change. The first one dropped in December so I doubt they will deviate from that.

Only reason why Avatar broke those records is cause it was new and no one knew what it was gonna be. Now that we know it was one of the most overrated movies ever, I doubt the same numbers of people are gonna go rushing to see the sequel.

Whereas the cliffhanger left in TFA will have everyone rushing to see SW8 first weekend.

Just my opinion though.

Avatar better move up to Summer 2017 not back, it's already coming late as it is. I can't remember the last time I even watched Avatar.
I seriously doubt he will move it up. I guess it's possible but he moved it back for a reason. His scripts aren't even done. He's filming them all back to back. All his post production will take a grip. Be nice to see part 2 come sooner. I agree.

I just don't see how both movies can do the same numbers sharing the IMAX screens. you have to space them out if you want them to generate the most numbers each.
