Sony is coasting so much on this deal it's not funny. Marvel is writing the whole film but sony gets a piece because they bought spiderman years ago.
yeah the best part about this is sony can keep making morbious and venom and marvel can see what the audience didn't like
for example if Morbius does bad they can see what not to add in their blade film

I agree that everyone has a price. But i also think Disney has approached Sony with a complete buyout of the spidey rights. Probably more then once at this point.

Its more to it then simply (give me 4 billion) or whatever their number would be. I think Disney would gladly pay the price. We seen them do it numerous times now lol. They are clearly not against simply buying out their competition.

yeah they've done the math and it doesn't make sense for them to buy the full rights at that price because of this

Disney cannot value Sony’s Spider-Man license at $4 billion, or even $2 billion, because Disney already owns just about every potential revenue stream for Spider-Man outside of box office receipts and perhaps some promotional marketing partnerships. Factoring in the actual profit (not revenue) of one Spider-Man film every few years (because Marvel Studios would not make one every two years, as Sony does), it would take Disney far too long recoup a multi-billion-dollar investment.

now the deal has changed and sony does get some merchandise profits but before Disney was getting 100% of merchandising profits for spiderman. if you're getting the best of the character i don't see myself paying more just to stop fighting with a dying film studio

it would have to be a number so big that it would take decades for Sony to actually make with future Spider-Man movies.

they could sell the rights for an amount Disney could recoup with a mix of Spider-Man movies and cameos in other films.

even the bad Spider-Man movies Sony put out made money. Marvel made the character great again so the price is even higher.
